Wow. I’m so speechless and humbled to share about last nights half marathon experience. It was incredible, fun, and shockingly got easier mile 10 through 13. I felt invigorated and more alive than ever.
When I think about my 37 years of life, and the ups and downs I’ve had with weight and fitness, I’m so grateful. From a bigger girl in high school that didn’t work out, to an anorexic 105 lbs in eating disorder rehab (twice), I am proud to report that this is the healthiest my body has ever been.
The more powerful lesson here isn’t the fitness milestone though. While proving to myself that I could run 13 miles is great, the bigger ah-ha moment is realizing that I truly can do anything I put my mind to. I NEVER EVER thought that my body could handle running that long. I guess it can.
I woke up wondering what seemingly impossible challenge I want to take on next. Not necessarily in the world of health and fitness. This can be in my career, relationships, or even bucket list items that appear daunting. Philippians 4:13 became more alive last night as I ran for two and a half hours straight.
I’m brought to tears as I sit here knowing that I truly CAN DO ALL THINGS. I can run my life race and stay the course, no matter what, because I know where my strength comes from.
@skmissy and @jess_0423 - I was so honored to share this experience with you - both the laughter and the struggles!!! Hope you have some Epsom salts for a bath today! Love you ladies.
@vitalgermaine - thank you for being there for me. Not only at mile 7 and the finish line, but in life. You’ve been at every life mile marker lately and I’m grateful for you! May we continue to run our races together cheering one another on!
To all the rest of my friends and family who sent me encouragement and congratulations - I am thankful for you! Knowing I have a solid support system means more than you know
So I guess the only 2 questions now are —— “WHERES THE ADVIL?” And “WHAT NEXT?
C’è da dire che quando uno è figo poi vengono bene anche le foto 🤣. Ieri alla #ravennamarathon è stata una figata. Volavo 😜. Grazie per la foto @maratona_ravenna e per la fantastica organizzazione e giornata.
🇬🇧 yesterday was amazing. I believe I can fly. Wonderful day and organization #halfmarathon

Treadmill PB! Can I do this outside? Probably not 🤣. I’m a sweaty mess, so enjoy a cute Pug instead ☺️

In January I’m doing the Disney Marathon challenge which includes:
- 5km race
- 10km race
- Half marathon race
- Full marathon race
...in 4 consecutive days (Thursday-Sunday)😅 I decided to do this for a cause that goes beyond myself alone. Why? Because I am healthy, and I am grateful that I have the body to do it.
Of course, I couldn’t do it without my challengers. Not only did they get an incredible transformation, they also did it for a cause that goes beyond themselves alone.
The challengers had to send me pictures of their meals ($0.05), their workouts ($0.10) and submit their progress ($0.15) every single day/week.
For every picture they submitted, money was to be donated to Autism Speaks.
Now that the challenge is over, I want to leave you with a surprise:
I’ve decided to DOUBLE THE DONATIONS!! Total donations:
If you didn’t participate in the 6 week challenge but would still want to support, please visit or click on link in my bio
Next challenge starts: January 7th, 2019
Day off of work because of #veteransday so I was able to get in a workout with my daughter @mackenzie_hale14.
Talk about setting a positive example for your kids, she is joining me for this 8-week journey as I begin my #ironmantraining for 2019. My schedule is booked for the year, so it’s time to start getting busy.
Pretty skies on my evening walk. Trying to incorporate more walks when I’m not running 🌅

Congrats to our members who ran the @bchalfseries Cypress Half-Marathon yesterday morning. We had some PR’s and podiums we’ll be showcasing throughout the week. It was the perfect course and perfect weather to make for a fun race #weCRAy#halfmarathon#13point1#runfam
Medal Monday! 🙌🏻🏅If you caught my stories this weekend you already know I ran a half on Saturday, and you know I had very mixed emotions with my results. I’ve had a few days to think on it, and I’ve decided to try to focus on the positive parts. • I may have ran a longer race by .3miles, but that makes this my longest run ever. 🤣 • I ran 13.44 miles at a 7:55 pace, my goal was sub 8! 🙌🏻 I ran 13.1 miles faster than I ever have. • I did not walk AT ALL. Normally I’ll walk/slow down through water stops. Saturday I carried water, and though I wanted to walk MANY times, I did not! • I ran a course that was far more difficult than any other course I’ve ran. For the first time I didn’t pick a race based on it being a “flat and fast” course. • I came in 5th place in my AG. When I started running I NEVER expected to place anything faster than “middle of the pack”. • My knees did NOT hurt at ALL the entire race. Leading up to race day I listened to my body and ran my mileage according to what was best for ME! I ignored the thoughts in my head telling me “so and so” runs “x” amount of miles in their training. (I did take a slight break from IG for a couple weeks to help me with this.) • This race was not a race that came easy. I was so cold (low 20’s, really TN?!) and I HATE being cold. The hills sucked. The wind sucked. I didn’t know the course at all, so I didn’t know what to expect each mile, which was a mental f*ck. I wasn’t feeling any of my music. At mile 12 I almost started to cry because I just wanted to be DONE. But, despite all the things that made this race tough for me, I was tougher. I fought HARD. I had to repeat to myself “Do not give up, you want this and you are not here to give up.” I dug deep and I am proud of that. • I ran a race in Nashville, and that makes TN feel more like home.
So...No, it wasn’t a PR. Yes, I was disappointed in myself. But I am stronger than I was a year ago, and I will grow and learn from this race.
On to the next! 🙌🏻❤️🏃🏼♀️ .

Cringey photo for my first half marathon ✅ (1:13:11)
What an adventure 13.1 miles is...it feels like a journey out there. I’m training for shorter distance racing (5k/10k), but getting a taste of long distance racing has been a fun challenge for me this year.
I’ll definitely race the half again in 2019 (to hopefully snag that 1:13 Olympic Trials qualifying time) and eventually start throwing down that high mileage (with my boss marathoning teammate @b_lyons). There’s just something so satisfying & addicting about the long stuff...
For now, fitness & I need a lil break from each other. Altitude training is over, and I get 4 days off...wild!😏
Carried on from previous post.... I would 100% recommend @athensauthenticmarathon to any marathon runner out there- but, it is not for the feint hearted! This race is not a PB course, this is one that will push you to your absolute limit (and then some!). For me, I can now say I’ve ran one of the most undulating courses in the EU, and still managed a hill sprint 3/4 in and achieved negative splits 🏃🏽♀️🥇. . .
Athens- completed it ✅
8 Monday morning miles 🙌🏻 gotta love a three day weekend and incredible running weather. It felt good to be back running longer miles along my quiet beach route. With that... the more and more I think (and google May 2019 marathon dates) the more positive I am that I will be training for a spring marathon 😳. I wanted to ask my IG friends their opinions on Shipyard Maine Coast, New Jersey, and Vermont City.... go!!! (9:50 avg)
