  • As promised, here is a little guide for you when it comes to rep ranges! I want to start off by saying that I have personally found the most change in my physique by starting my workouts with a heavy 1-5 rep range, and completing my workouts with an 8-12 rep range. With that being said, here are the basics of what you need to know when it comes to rep ranges and your goals⬇️ 1️⃣If you’re trying to increase the mass of your muscles, you need to be in the hypertrophy rep range. This is around 8-12 reps with 3-5 sets. The weight should be around 50-75% of your one rep max. 2️⃣if your goal is strength, for example building your squat, you’ll be working with lower rep ranges. This should consist of 3-5 sets with 1-6 reps. You should be using a weight around 80-95% of your one rep max. (You should also incorporate accessory movements in the hypertrophy stage for the best results) 3️⃣if your goal is weight loss, you need to keep those reps high! Try doing 12-20 reps with, once again, 3-5 sets. This will help you build muscle and burn more calories at the same time. One more thing, these are just GUIDLINES so please keep the technical comments to yourselves 🙄. If you want more scientific studies on this leave a comment and I’ll put a link in my story!

  • Soooooo I wanted to make a video about block pulls but I had to add in the PR I hit today!! The first clip is me pulling 225x6 which is an all time PR, and I ended up doing 3 additional sets😱 HOLY GAINS LOL. But anyways, the second video is from last week where I did 1 inch block pulls with 235 for sets of 3. Everyone who wants to gain strength should add these I. Periodically and here’s why.. Block pulls are basically an elevated deadlift, meaning the bar is about 1-6 inches higher than normal. This shortens the range of motion, allowing you to pull more weight than you would with a normal deadlift. This leads to overloading your muscles, resulting in more strength gains. Try adding these in every couple of weeks and you’ll notice a difference when youre pulling from the ground!

  • Here’s a pre activation circuit I did the other day before my workout to fire up my glutes💪🏻 I know some of you are wondering, does ‘glute activation’ really help grow your glutes? Glute activation is basically ‘firing up’ your glute muscles before a lower body workout. If your glutes are inactive from variables such as sitting all day, your quads, hamstrings, and low back are going to want to compensate throughout the workout. Doing exercises such as banded glute bridges, banded kick backs and banded abductions will strengthen your glutes and ‘wake them up’ for your workout. Strong glutes = less back pain, less hip pain, and a more stable core.

  • 2018 was full of opportunities to travel and speak to more people than I ever have before. 2019 I’m working to position myself as a female authority in the nutrition, mindset and training space. 😊 . There is nothing more rewarding than educating people; especially eager and open people. Many people look to women for empathy, compassion and comfort. I also want to be known for providing knowledge and facts. 🤓 . Incredibly thankful that I had not one, but two, opportunities to speak this year in front of large groups of @1stphorm Legionnaires. To say I’m excited for next year is an understatement. 🙏🏻 . #LoCoFit #teamlocofit #science #iam1stphorm #redefinehealthy

  • #offseasongoals @caitlyn_block 👏🏻 The transition into a period of not dieting can be challenging for all of us, no matter how experienced you are. Post diet “feels” linger for several weeks [ generally 4-8 weeks ] I’ve seen with clients. . Adding in untracked meals definitely helps the shift from the rigidity of a diet to the flexibility of an offseason. However, there’s still a time component here before things normalize. . Proud of Caitlyn for her hard work this offseason. Setting herself up for a bad ass prep. 🤗💃🏻🦵🏻 . For any questions about coaching visit www.teamlocofit.com ✨ . #LoCoFit #teamlocofit #redefinehealthy

  • Thankfully with my genetics I was born with the foundation to grow some glutes. However shaping them and growing them has and still is in process. 2015 I became serious about training them. Left was 2013 - one year into working out. Granted these are two different angles but you can see the changes! Working on bringing out details. Strategically training. I’m learning to really separate feeling my hamstrings versus glutes. Usually the glutes want to take over since I’ve learned them so well. I’m starting to see those changes I want in my hamstrings (and the underbutt area too) a glute ham tie in is something I really want! Working hard to get it, however usually this is something that comes with being lean..so that next show I do it will be popping I can promise you that!! This is when genetics mess with me because your girl likes to hold on to that thickness in those legs. Back to the stairs for my cardio to tighten these thighs up! - comment below your favorite glute exercise! I’d love to try 🍑💜 #transformationtuesday #progress #glutes #growyourglutes #hardwork #hardworkpaysoff #goals #neverstop #fitness #fit #fitnessmotivation #npc #bikini #bodybuilding #celestialbodiez #1stphormlegionnaire #vibrantvixen #iam1stphorm #transformation

  • INSECURITIES, we all have them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . Insecurities can be a wide variety of things. It’s different for everyone. What could be an insecurity for one individual, could be something that someone else is or would be confident about. For me, it’s my upper body - it’s where I store the most fat especially in my stomach. . I know, it’s hard not to think about them and pick at them sometimes. But, something we have to keep in mind is that the more we get caught up into our thoughts, we can actually eventually create LIES in our own head. . How many times have you thought something negative about yourself (easiest example is you thought you were “fat” at some point) then, when you look back on a photo of that time, you realize wow, I wasn’t even that bad at all. Yeah, it’s because you fed yourself a LIE. You thought about that thought SO MUCH that you convinced yourself of that though although it was far from true. . My point is, we all have insecurities and that’s OKAY. Whether it’s big or small, WE ALL HAVE THEM. Every fitspo you look up to has one, they just may not be vocal about it. STOP thinking about them so much and STOP picking at them ALL THE DAMN TIME. It does nothing for you positively. Embrace them WHILE doing something to improve them or simply just embrace them. It’s what I do now and it’s what I do during competition prep too! As I’ve said before and I’ll say again, the way you see things and talk to yourself can heavily you mentally which can result in physically impacting you as well. .
