Wrapped up the final day of shooting yesterday for @__steviec’s single “Figure Your Mind” — let me tell you, it felt so good to be back creating and bringing my personal ideas to life visually. I’m very excited for this one. And, what’s also dope is I brought the homie @tomjmccoy on as cinematographer; this is our first music video we’ve collaborated on & it was a success. It’s always smooth when you confide in someone’s craft and vision. I’ll be releasing some more behind the scenes content here soon!
This scene in the script took place at night. However in the scout I checked out the location and realized the large loft window (which was great to use as a base light source) was on the second floor. Also the windows were totally bare and looking straight into downtown LA. Now this wouldn't necessarily be a problem, however we needed to shoot this day for night. Doing that would require tenting the exterior of the windows and shooting moonlight through or totally blacking it out(which I'm not generally a fan of). I like to use windows whether they are day or night to push light through to add interest to scenes. The only problem was that we didn't have the budget to bring in a condor and rig up the outside of the building to shoot lights through. So the solution ended up being...rewrite the script so that it took place during the day. Now day can present its own challenges, but it was much more manageable. I was able to use the natural light, obscure it with set dec and shades, and then motivate floor units to key them with. This saved us an enormous amount of money and time. Sometimes the best solutions are simply planning ahead.

#Culture: Olori Didn't Step On Human Blood
And His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi the Ooni of Ife finally takes Olori Moronke Ogunwusi as wife and I pray that Olodumare will bless their union.. though this Union has generated a whole lots of issues on and off the social media, for certain reasons.. but this issue got to me more when about 2 people around me raised an eyebrow about the blood that the Olori stepped on, and they believe that it was not just an ordinary blood, but HUMAN BLOOD.. this got me furious within myself for some reasons and most especially the fact that people regards everything traditional to be demonic. And this is not really good for us if we really want to leave good/rich cultural & traditional heritage for the unborn generations.
Though in defense I told those that cares that, though I was not present there during this rite, but I have a strong belief that, the blood must have been from an animal.. Then I shared with them the experience of me as a young boy having the priviledge of watching the Late Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubose II, steps on the blood of slaughtered white ram, before coming into his ancestral home (Ogboru Olodo) my maternal home at Ilare area, Ile-Ife, during the Olojo festival.
Fast forward to this year, I was at the Olojo festival to document the festival and capture the memories, and behold it happened again white rams were slaughtered at the ancestral home of Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi the Ooni of Ife.
Though I was unable to capture the ram very well because of the huge crowd, but take your time to look closely at the images and you will see ram that was slaughtered, it was not HUMAN, and this make me strongly believe that the Olori did not step on Human Blood.. How I wish the photographer that took that trending picture can establish what was killed !!! And anyone that can enlighten people about the importance of the spilled blood.
