LOVED spending time at my daughters preschool talking about being a doctor and how we can keep our bodies healthy. My children have sacrificed for the choices I have made from my 13 year old residency baby to this -my last hurrah and it is so heartwarming to feel their pride. @unisyneclc#DrMom#dradrienneyoudim
#soportenutricional#nutritionalsupport#nutricionparenteral#nutricionenteral#nutricionclinica#clinicalnutrition#macronutrients#carbohidratos#proteinas#glutamine#glutamina#fat#grasas
I've always wanted to meet a garlic farmer & dreams came true today at the SLC Farmers market 👊🏻 We got a new type of yellow zucchini we've never had, sorrel (lemon spinach), fresh tarragon, sweet onions, 4 types of garlic with varying levels of allicin & spice, mustard greens, cabbage, a beautiful head of red leaf lettuce, salad turnips with edible tops & Dragon's tongue wax beans. And we supported local, regenerative soil farmers. #iloveslc
Camping doesn’t have to mean unhealthy eating! This was one of the meals my bf and I made in a dutch oven on our 10-day backpacking/camping adventure in Wyoming and Montana. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For this meal, we cooked up organic bacon, brussels sprouts, and red potatoes in the dutch oven and added some olive oil, thyme, and a generous sprinkling of sea salt. We definitely needed all the calories after an intense week of backpacking and hiking in the Wind Rivers, Grand Teton National Park, and Yellowstone! 😊 I’m looking forward to developing more backpacking and car-camping recipes for our future adventures!

A lot of us resolve to deal with chronic aches and pains as we age, but we really shouldn't.
Herbal relief for chronic aches and pains is totally possible. It's finally time to stop relying on NSAIDs like Motrin and Aleve. We found the solution! 🙌
At Physio Logic we work with an awesome supplement company (that uses the best ingredients and double checks EVERY batch). One of their products, Inflavonoid Intensive Care, helps to reduce or eliminate the need for painkillers (saving your liver and kidneys a lot of trouble)

✨The health benefits of probiotics center around what is known as the amazing microbiome. 😉
The microbiome is composed of a huge number of microflora that work together to regulate health. The two most focused in the supplement industry are from two genus, Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus. If you look at a supplement label closely, you’ll see manufacturers throwing all sorts of strains of Lactobacillus & Bifidobacterium together into the same bottle. I will be breaking down different strains in future posts, but today will just go over what they are and do..
Bifidobacterium is a genus of the bacteria kingdom that reside in the GI (gastrointestinal) tract, vaginal systems and the mouth. They are Gram-positive, use glucose as fuel and are usually branched-shaped. What separates this genus from the other bacteria is a particular pathway that allows it to ferment carbohydrates. This is beneficial for us because plant and milk carbohydrates are not digestible by humans. Fermentation turns these carbs into short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which is the main energy source for our intestinal cells. But aside from providing our bodies with much-needed SCFAs, Bifidocacterium also works to protect us from infections..
Like Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus also ferments carbohydrates into SCFAs and also found in the gut and vaginal systems. Lactobacillus, also Gram-positive bacteria are the only bacteria to contain PanK-II enzymes, which is the first enzyme in the Coenzyme A (CoA) pathway that participates in many biochemical reactions in protein, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. It has a high tolerance for low pH conditions allowing them to travel through GI tract and survive the abrupt pH changes in the intestinal system.
A two-part study showed that the risk of probiotic-associated bacteremia ( a condition where the bacteria go to places they shouldn’t, like the blood) was only 0.2%, while a study for seven years showed no bacteremia when patients were given a probiotic combination. This is the first point that counsels in favor of combining a few strains of probiotics, combinations prevent one strain from becoming dominant and taking over.✨

You’ve probably run across it on a menu, but have you ever took a moment to learn how to say it? Pronounced ‘keen-wah’, this protein-packed super seed is actually related to leafy green vegetables including kale and Swiss chard.
While Quinoa is most noted for its large amount of lysine, the amino acid most directly responsible for tissue growth and repair, it should be held in high honor as just one serving of this mild, nutty couscous-looking seed holds 442 mg of lysine (or about 5% of the daily-recommended intake for a 150-pound person according to the USDA)! It’s also very high in fiber, iron, magnesium, and manganese!
Quinoa is so super that NASA suggested that it’s astronauts should attempt growing it as part of their long-term missions in space.
If that wasn’t super enough - you can incorporate quinoa in just about anything; use it in replacement of rice in your soup, pasta, oatmeal, or even as it’s own nutrition dense side dish!

Mantenha-se hidratado, tome 2 a 3 litros de líquidos/dias, de preferência água e sucos naturais da fruta;
Em casos de perda de apetite: Reduza a quantidade e comida e aumente o número de refeições/dia; evite beber líquidos junto com o almoço e o jantar; opte por pratos coloridos e variados preparados com temperos naturais;
Studying for my Nutrition boards next month in Los Angels CA. And I get so exited when I know the answers ☺ for this one the answer is #2 why? Let me tell you please... Cholecystokinin( a hormone) stimulates contraction of the gall bladder and secretion of the pancreatic enzymes. Release of cholecystokinin is stimulate by animo acids in the small intestine by I cells of the small intestine. #nutritionboards#humannutrition#foodscience#igotthis#clinicalnutrition#goals#nutrition#facts

Just booked my ticket to Clinical Nutrition Conference for Health and Fitness Professionals in August, so excited!🤓 Gut health and treating gut disorders is the topics I'm interested the most. Everyone should focus on a good gut health- it affects quality of your life in many ways. Sadly fitness industry is saturated with "gut health gurus" who has no qualifications and just use fancy terms/sell supplement etc to make money. Will be great to learn from the actual specialists in this area and be able to help my clients improve quality of their lives even more😊 PCOS management and disordered eating is a something I come across often, will be good to learn about it more in depth. Another topic- Diabetes management, not really my area but I'm always willing to expand my knowledge! Do you work in Health and Fitness industry and want to learn more? Or maybe you just interested in any of these topics? Everyone is welcome to the conference!
There's only 4 days left to sign up for it! You can use code "MenteeVIP" for £30 off the general price. Link below:
FOOD FOR THOUGHT 🙋♀️🙋♀️ Have been thinking a lot about the term "emotional eating" lately & have decided that I strongly dislike the two words side-by-side -- they make no sense together in my brain. Each time we put something into our bodies we are tapping into our emotions - therefore EVERY eating event is emotional without having to be classified as such. We choose our foods based on such a wide variety of characteristics & only a VERY small percentage of us choose foods based on their chemical composition -- and even then we STILL draw from our past experiences with those foods to determine if they fit for us in any particular moment. When we label others as "emotional eaters" we are demonizing a characteristic that we ALL possess, placing others in categories that really make no sense in an effort to separate ourselves from them, & judging them for having different patterns/body types than us, instead of reaching out & truly understanding them as humans, accepting them for who they are, & creating a bond with them (or not) based on your common (or not so common) values. When we judge people for their eating, we only create distance, when this world needs more connection. ✨ HOW you can help: Challenge others. When we are in conversation with people who create labels, challenge those labels ✔ What makes them an "emotional eater?" Change the conversation, elevate yourself& in turn elevate those around you ✨👏💖 PS: Ate this salad last night with ALL OF THE HAPPINESS😍🏅 @larrygrubler@arquillabonnie#eathealthy#healthyeating#registereddietitian#fitfam#fitfamily#fitness#latergram#wednesday#wcw#humpday#morning#goodvibes#goodmorning#commute#thankful#clinicalnutrition#loveyourself#eat#food#foodporn#foodie#postworkout#positivevibes#greekfood#feta#plantstrong#paleo#glutenfree#breakie#breakfast

Why slow fat loss is actually something to aim for: .
•slow fat loss put less stress on your liver. Why? Toxins are stored in fat cells and will be released into circulation once the fat is oxidised. Slow release will allow the liver to keep up and eliminate excess toxins👆🏻
. • Slow fat loss is healthier as you are less likely to loose muscle mass in the process👌🏻
• Slow fat loss = more likely to keep the weight off in the future ✨
I am doing a lot of liver work at the moment (after doing A LOT OF GUT HEALING)!
I've had amazing results already and I'm super excited to announce that my severe period pain (dysmenorrhea) was completely absent this month!💃 It has taken me 2-3 months of working on my liver (and a few other things) to get to zero pain.
Through elimination of excess toxins/ hormones and decreasing inflammation ☺️I've also ensured enough availability of nutrients such as amino acids, b vitamins and other essential minerals and vitamins to allow my body to thrive. #happydays 💕
