The road to self love is long and winding, often with several speed bumps along the way. This mornings speed bump really hit me hard. I knew we were going to the beach today and I stood in my closet for the longest time trying to figure out what to wear. Everything I put on made me feel uncomfortable and self conscious. I definitely was not in the mindset to walk around in a bathing suit. These days really can be the most frustrating. I get so hard on myself sometimes for how I’ve allowed to let my health take a back burner for so long again. But I’ve gotta stop looking back at what was and start looking forward and getting myself to where I want to be. #outfitandfit
My secret of living a happy life is remembering that I have more blessing than problems! However my favorite time is @before5am
When I don't have a long night shift the night before I am up around 4:50am...
First thing I would do is:
1. Look through my bedroom window and smell the air, so pure!
2. Next I drink worm cup water every morning before doing anything, to flush out toxins and to regenerate new cell in my body.
3. Stretching or meditation for 2_6 minutes. Than making a nice cup of coffee with coconut milk or almond milk!! 4. Short hikes in the AM on a weekly basis... Nature has an array of great benefits for our body and specialty for our immune system and our mood!! 5. After all of that, getting ready to work on my business, go to work or school..... Organizing is very important to me to have a clear view on my day!! @before5amlifestyle and thank you @iamjoeduncan

Ok.... so I didn’t get much sleep (don’t judge 😆) but I packed my gym bag knowing if I went home from work today I would Not be back out again... I killed it in the gym with legs, shoulders, and back... plus a tiny run and some yoga... I used believed I was not “photogenic.” 🚫📷🚫I hated most if not all of the snapshots taken of me. I eventually believed I was unattractive, even when folks would compliment me and tell me the opposite. As a result, I developed contempt for being photographed and avoided it. It wasn’t until I developed an interest in photography and later studied photography in college that I learned that I spent a ridiculous amount of my youth believing something that simply wasn’t true. My experience in front of and behind the camera helped me understand that I had been way too hard on myself all those years. I discovered that not only am I photogenic but the camera loves me!!! ✨🤗😎🤗✨ A photograph is literally a capture of a fraction of time. A commonly used shutter speed is 1/125 of a second. This means that the camera can only capture whatever it can in less time than it takes you to blink or take a full breath. This is why professional photographers shoot so many frames during a shoot. It is not reasonable to believe that the perfect shot can be captured at such a high shutter speed in one take. In addition photography is really the art of capturing how light effects a subject. If you don’t understand this concept you will likely be disappointed with snapshots of you constantly. Man if I knew then what I know now.
If you’ve ever felt the way I described, understand that it’s not you, It’s the process. Be kind to yourself! Even the most skilled photographers have to shoot many many frames to get a handful of useable shots. Been MIA for most of the week because I felt super crappy. Did some light working out but nothing notable, but I’m back to my old self today! Up at 4:30am, 2.25mi walk/jog, worked for 1hr to help out at my job, took myself for a good breakfast and yummy coffee, wrote some music, played with my new kitten 💕, mowed my yard for 3 hours, SHOWERED! Having a little reflection tonight after speaking with a friend I used to train with many years ago. And it's slightly crazy how paths can change without you realising.
The photo on the left was from the first night I was at MMA. Right is my current training.
2.5 years ago I struggled to even lift the bar for a squat. At the time I had no desire for weightlifting. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I was recovering from years of fighting on an injury that never got fixed, and simply killing time for it to heal to get back to fighting. Admittedly I was back and forth between the gym and boxing. Because who doesn't love being in limbo 😂
Fast forward to now and I absolutely love weightlifting. I do believe in where you train can have an impact, and where I train has become a place I go to just have "me time". I also consider myself lucky to have met some amazing people, both back then and now.
Honestly if you told me years ago I'd be training how I am today, I'd have laughed it off and continued my pad work in agony (and I wonder why my shoulder was ruined) 🙄
I still occasionally put the gloves back on, but I'm excited to see what lies ahead... Now I've finally got a belt 🤣
