I was tuning in and doing smaller movements to engage my outer hips before I settled into the stretch. Knowing that all of my limbs and joints are supported always makes for a sweeter stretch πŸ™πŸΌ

  • You know those days where you actually manage to wake up early, take all of your supps, workout, eat healthy, drink a gallon of water, keep up with your planner and responsibilities, and go to sleep early? I have these days maybe once a month, and that’s ok with me. It’s almost impossible to do everything perfectly every single day, but if you reach for perfection and fall short, you’d be surprised at how satisfying it is to know that you tried your best. Plan ahead, manage your time, prep your meals, do as much as you can with the time you have. Dreams really don’t work if you don’t! @gymshark @gymsharkwomen

  • I’ve been working with Jeff and Darrell for over 2 years and each year we make more progress but the most progress we’ve made has been the last 3 months! Implementing more and more @functionalpatterns training has significantly reduced chronic lower back pain, neck tension, plantar fasciitis, and tight hips that limited their movement capabilities during exercise and the way their bodies moved in real life. A year ago exercises like these would have not looked as clean and would have lead to compensations elsewhere in the body that would have manifested as pain during the workout or the next day. And let’s face it when you’re in pain it lays you up and restricts what your body can do- sure you can live with it but these guys got tired of having to β€œlive” with it because that’s not living at all! They tried a lot of approaches over the years but the last 3 months they’ve made the most progress towards enhancing their quality of life! Jeff can walk several times a week without dealing with plantar fasciitis and Darrell doesn’t have lower back pain when he has to stand all day at work ❌ . The difference in the last 3 months is that we are training their bodies the way the human body evolved to function. Connecting multiple muscles with each exercise the way their bodies connect in real life- we don’t prioritize isolation exercise because too much isolation creates a disconnection between muscles in the body and then the way we move starts to decline. If we repeat these patterns long enough we wonder why we are always in acute pain or chronic discomfort, and why our balance suffers the older we get- it’s not that you’re old it’s just more time that your body has spent walking through life β€œdisconnected” and our movement quality starts to suffer. When you train to reconnect your body you’ll find that walking is easier, balance isn’t a debilitating issue, the pain you’ve been living with starts to decrease, and you regain control over what you want most out of your health and fitness lifestyle πŸ’― .
