  • So this picture popped up on my Timehop. 10 years ago. My first marathon, RnR San Antonio. I remember everything hurting so bad. I had s black toenail (i lost it). I could barely walk. I was exhausted. But I was also elated. I had just done this amazing thing of finishing 26.2 miles. Never in my early running journey had I thought I could complete something that epic. But I did it! And then I did it again. Countless half marathons and four marathons later I’m still going, still improving, and still loving this journey called running.

  • The CHANGE you WANT STARTS NOW When will we stop letting others define or success? When are we gonna start taking back control of our own lives? What will it take for us to realize it’s OUR life, not one others can lead for us? I say you want something, you GO get it. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen, but if you never try you’ll never know. I’m tired of people telling me what I am or who I am. Yes, I’m Muslim. Yes, I run fully covered. So what if it hurts more when I run? So what if everyone has a problem with what I wear? This is MY CHOICE. It’s my life, not theirs. I’m sick of people saying because I’m fully covered I’m a slower runner. While this can be true, and while it’s true I have to work twice as hard as everyone else to achieve the same times, I wouldn’t want it any other way. The journey is worth more than the destination. Not to brag, but to make a point, I’ve run the mile in 10th grade in 6:37. That’s not the fastest, but I know many people who haven’t achieved this time either because 1)they don’t care enough to work hard or 2) they’re too scared to try. I said what I said, and I mean what I said! I say, screw what others think! It’s your life to lead, not theirs! Go for what you want. At the end of the day, the one who you should be doing everything for is yourself. You are your number one priority. No one else is there for you like YOU are. YOU are your NUMBER ONE ☝️ cheerleader 📣!! The many miles I spent alone are for ME, no one else. This is all to prove to my self I’m capable of anything, and so are YOU. And no one, I mean NO. ONE. has the right to say you’re incapable of anything when they haven’t tried themselves. Only you decide what you can do. So, this life is for the taking, and what are you gonna do with it?   • • You had a purpose before anyone had an opinion • . . . I cannot believe this happened today!!! I’m pretty stoked as I honestly never dreamed of seeing such a finish. I have always been fond of some kind of race Thanksgiving Weekend as I ran my first marathon last year. Considering I am hosting my very first Thanksgiving, I knew any kind of fun race was out of the question. SO I decided to do a virtual 5K this morning and BOOM I did that! I haven’t worked that hard in a really long as I about collapsed when I finished. But there’s no better feeling of accomplishment seriously! Might have pushed it a bit but as runners we tend to do crazy things. Last mile tho!! Very happy regardless. Can’t wait to see what I do on race day next week🙌🏼

  • With 39 years under my belt, what do I want to accomplish by next year’s 40th? I have a beautiful wife, wonderful children, a great home and a fulfilling career. Looking ahead, I’m setting some running goals that will take me to the next level. Tonight I started a @runningroom clinic that will prepare me for the Around the Bay 30k race at the end of March, running the first 6kms of what will end up being 811kms over the course of 19 weeks. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and pushing myself to stay consistent through the cold and snowy winter months! How do you stay motivated when it’s dark and icy at 5pm?

  • Why you’re struggling to build your chest by @trainwithcarsen Follow @wildbeast_fitness _ For years I struggled to build my chest. I wanted to blame my genetics and just accept the fact that I would never sculpt the chest I had always wanted. _It wasn’t until I went all in on building my chest, that I started to finally see the results I long desired for. You have to ask yourself, do you kind of sort of want to build your chest? Or do you REALLY want to build your chest? _ FREQUENCY❗️I started to adjust my entire focus on building up my chest. Instead of working my chest on Monday alone, I started working my chest Monday, Wednesday, AND Friday. Anytime I had the opportunity to work on my chest presses, I did. _ LOSE THE EGO❗️Another huge turning point for me was letting go of my ego. I brought the weight of all my presses way down so I could focus on form and chest engagement. I realized, before I wasn’t engaging my chest...really at all. I was simply just going through the motions. _ EAT MORE❗️Lastly, the hardest thing for me - was starting to eat more. I was never much of a big eater growing up, but I knew if I wanted to build my chest, I needed to increase my calories. For me, mass gainer shakes were super helpful. I would load up a blender and stack ingredients in it like: protein powder, peanut butter, fruit, vegetables, oats. I would have 1, and sometimes 2, shakes everyday! _ So what you need to do today is make the decision - are you all in? Because if you are, you need to show up everyday. Not just the next few days.
