  • by @matt_w_runs. One of my favourite road races. An old photo from May, closed road 10k in Oxford, UK.🏃🏅 . This I where I was 15 seconds from joining the sub40 club for a 10k. I haven't run like this since, while I waited for my shins to recover. . I have the trails and hills to thank now as it has got me back on track and meant I have got faster by running less. . I shall be trying to break 40 again very soon 🏃💪🏅

  • Loaded Carries for Runners: Marching Carry⠀ ___⠀ 🔴 This variation involves marching while carrying the weight on your upper back like in a starting squat position. This really focuses on single-limb balance and timing more than the other variations so far.⠀ 🔴 With this variation, compared to a yoke walk, you’ll likely need to decerase the weight. The goal should be to stay tall and control each step. You can tell I’m having a little trouble on a couple of those steps.⠀ 🔴 Carries are fantastic for so many reasons including:⠀ 1⃣ Performing a very functional movement (walking) with increased load⠀ 2⃣ Enhancing axial load which has been associated with decerased running-related injury risk⠀ 3⃣ Improving abdominal, back, and lower extremity strength⠀ 4⃣ Improving shoulder strength and muscle co-activation⠀ 5⃣ Improving grip strength⠀ 6⃣ Improving endurance and overall work capacity (it’s surprising how winded you’ll get after an adequately-loaded 30-second bout)⠀ _____⠀ 💪 We LOVE exercising. But that doesn’t always mean our form is the best 🙈⠀ 💪 Looking at my own exercise form, and acknowleding aspects I consider errors, is one of the best things about shooting these videos⠀ 💪 I consider exercise form to be important but, at the end of the day, a well-programmed, adequately progressed, and consistent exercise program far outweighs small form deviations.   • To zdjęcie zrobione w 2015r., a dokładnie tuż po przekroczeniu mety PZU Maratonu Warszawskiego. Przebiec 42 kilometry to dla jednych dużo, a dla innych mało. Dla mnie, wtedy mamy karmiącej będącej kilka miesięcy po trzecim porodzie był to duży wyczyn. Na dodatek był to mój debiut na królewskim dystansie, a za sobą miałam tylko jeden półmaraton 🙃 Pamiętam jak dokładnie rozplanowałam punkty spotkań z rodziną na trasie i postoje na karmienie piersią. Przystanek, bluzka do góry, szybkie karmienie i biegłam dalej. Miny mijających mnie biegaczy - bezcenne! Pamiętam też dokładnie ten moment na mecie i słowa mojego męża „wiedziałem, że dasz radę”. Ja za to bałam się o kolano, które uszkodziłam zaraz po porodzie i które dokucza mi zresztą do dzisiaj. Wtedy usłyszałam „znając ciebie odgryzłabyś sobie nogę i doczołgała się na rękach”. Tak, zawsze uparcie dazylam do wyznaczonego celu, ale przede wszystkim zawsze w siebie wierzę. I nie znaczy to że wydaje mi się że mogę wszystko i że wszystko mi się od razu udaje… Ale skąd moge wiedzieć, czy dam radę coś zrobić… jeśli nie spróbuje? 🤷‍♀️😜 A na marginesie z kim się widzę za 9 dni w jubileuszowym 40-stym PZU Maratonie Warszawskim? 😎 . #flashback #myfirstmarathon #mystory #mylife #runnerslife #pzumaratonwarszawski #marathon #marathontraining #justrun #marathoner #marathonmom #trigirl #fitness #figirl #instafit #motivation #fitspiration #strongwomen #fitfam #happymom #runnersworld @runnersworldpolska

  • Guys, it may not seem like a big deal to any of you, but this is my first time successfully running three consecutive days since my Boston Injury. My hip pain was so intense back then that I needed a day off every two days, and as soon as we went for 3, INJURY. This became a pattern we noticed. It occurred 3 times. I’ve been afraid to run three consecutive days... but not anymore! Ive been so controlled by fear, I’ve been purposefully doing all the things I’m afraid of just to move on.   • MONDAY: Easy miles post leg-strength workout to keep the blood moving! Chatted with the coach there who did my VO2 max testing a few months ago (time flies!!!) and our conversation is one of the reasons I finally decided to reset my watch (PS all my runs are still saved on Strava and Final Surge!! Lol some of you messaged me freaked out that I would get rid of data 😂). . I'm at a new stage in life. New intern/doctor. New place. And I'm hoping to get a new watch with cellular ability this next year anyway, so the reset was a great way to set a new baseline and keep pushing myself from where I am right now!. .   • Tomorrow is the last official day of summer. So WHY does it feel like summer is NEVER going to end?! 😫 Not a dry spot left on me this morning. Y'all think I'm smart for running before the sun comes up... well, let me tell you, it ain't any cooler at 5AM. But, I made a promise to myself to stay committed and consistent in my training, and so a 3-mile tempo happened this morning. Right now, I feel like everything is sooooooo mental. I'm great at positive affirmations for my life + career, but man, running is another story. But I'm chipping away slowly but surely.
