  • I sometimes wonder how my life would be different if I hadn't spent so much time making excuses --- "I don't have enough time" "I don't have enough money" "I don't have rich parents" (like I thought every successful fit person must have because who can fully commit to this lifestyle while also going to school and working a job?) "I'm too stressed" "I'm not 'outgoing' enough" "I'm waiting for a door to open --- While many of these are perfectly fine reasons to not get other things done- a lot of times they are just hindering your potential. Make time, save your money, work hard, organize your schedule, practice socializing/being outgoing/making friends, build a door or make opportunities for yourself. Amazing things happen when we quit making excuses ⭐️

  • I can get so caught in things sometimes that I forget to see the bigger picture. This is something I have been actively working on and I can honestly say I've grown tremendously in this area of my life. For me, this transition has included things as small as not freaking out when I leave my overnight/makeup bag at home (this happened last weekend lol) to much bigger things like realizing that God places people in my life for a reason, and he takes people out of my life for a reason as well. And there's only so much I can control. I have become a less-stressed person because of this transition. I sleep better. I feel more at peace with my life in general. But I am still working on this and it has not been easy - If you feel like this is something you need to work on, join the party. Here's a few things I can tell you: 1.) Practice. Yes practice. practice talking yourself through situations like you would tell a friend (it's easy to be practical when it's not YOUR situation... amiright?) Tell yourself- well you have two options. Either go buy a toothbrush and borrow your roommates foundation for a few days, or drive back home and get your makeup bag. Simple. And don't let it be more than that. This is not a real issue. 2.) Find a good book to read for more complex topics. I've been reading a devotional called "Becoming the woman I want to be" and it's been eye opening as to what I really want out of life. Do your research and find a book, audiotape, something to help guide you. 3.) Find someONE to help guide you, too. Everyone needs accountability sometimes. And it can be as simple as texting a friend- hey I'm working on this and I need your help making sure I stay on track. 4.) Keep working at it even when you don't want to (like everything else in life, right?) Motivation is fleeting. Dedicate yourself. - Comment something you want to be held accountable for or DM me. Text a friend. Write it down. You got this ❤️ #lionheartedstrong

Read 👇🏽 - You can CERTAINLY enjoy a few drinks now and again without worrying about messing up everything as far as macronutrients are concerned. You should just be cautious as to how you go about this - Alcoholic beverages will often list an amount of carbs that are in the drink. This is NOT what you should put into myfitnesspal or how you should keep track of the calories. This "carb" count is only counting the legitimate carbs in the drink (usually all from sugar) - The macros listed will not account for the alcohol itself, which is very calorically dense. Alcohol has ~7 calories per gram. So you can log this is by taking the total number of calories in a drink (a 5 oz. glass of wine has around 120 calories, for example) and divide by 4 (calories per gram of carb) and get 30. This is the number of "carbs" we would log in MFP for a 5 oz. glass of wine to keep track of the wine - My suggestion?   • Cheesing so hard because it's almost FRI-YAY, I get to squat and bench my heart out later today, and I am beyond ready to get tomorrow's interview OVER with. I don't talk about this a lot on this page because I don't feel it defines me as a person, but some of you know that I've been struggling with anxiety for pretty much forever. There was a time in my life where this made it extremely difficult for me to function on a daily basis, but thanks to the wonders of modern medicine I've been able to stop letting my brain literally eat me alive and instead start LIVING MY LIFE. This isn't to say that anxiety doesn't rear its ugly head from time to time. Sometimes it pops up for no reason at all, and other times it's triggered by situational stress... like job interviews 😉 The truth is that the future is SCARY. The unknown is SCARY. Not knowing what to expect is SCARY. But so much of life is out of our control that all we can do is prepare ourselves to the best of our abilities, take a deep breath, and then LET 👏🏼 IT 👏🏼 GO. I'm not saying it's easy (because it's definitely not), but life in the moment is a much better place to be than ruminating on the past or future. Sidenote: if you are a fellow anxious human being, know that you are not alone. The way you are feeling in this present moment is very much real, but it doesn't have to be that way forever.   • When you’ve been eating what feels like a ton of calories but your body is loving it and you have yet to gain but a half a pound 😂🙄 #metabolicgains Trust me when I say I have the appetite of a sumo wrestler. Lol. I’m just glad my metabolism is catching up (kinda). • More muscle, higher energy expenditure, and higher training volume = more calories burned = more food your body needs to maintain its weight. • So it makes sense that over time, the more muscle I gain, the more calories I will need to consume. My training volume right now is so high I’m gonna die (lol jk but for real), and my additional energy expenditure is average. I spend most of my day sitting at a desk, but I am still moving more than I will be in a few weeks when I’m cramming for finals. Yah feel? My calorie intake is are always as high as it is now, but I’m definitely “listening to my body” and eating more than usual.   • Transformation Tuesday 🇺🇸 4th of July Edition 🇺🇸 #gainingweightiscool 142 lbs ➡️ 157 lbs 🔺 I was in a very different place in my fitness journey two years ago. My goal in posting this and briefly sharing about this transformation is for you to realize that as you grow and transform, your goals change too. And that's OKAY. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing and your goals sure as heck as not the same as everyone else's either (not all goals are fitness related) ▫️ The truth about the left photo? I wasn't restricting my calories, I wasn't doing excessive amounts of cardio, and I was in a good place mentally (wait what?) I was flexible dieting as I have been my whole fitness journey and I was coaching myself through my first "cut." I lost about 12 pounds by slowly dropping my calories and adding cardio. By the end of that summer I was eating just shy of 1800 calories a day and doing around 3 hours of cardio a week. 🔹 However, I could feel myself becoming "food focused" meaning my day revolved around what I was going to eat, and if I didn't hit my macros I was not happy. And I didn't want to continue operating that way. 🔺 I wasn't having much fun with my training, either. I was set on being a powerlifter.. and yet I wasn't getting any stronger. But I wasn't eating to GROW and I didn't have proper programming so I was not being pushed outside my comfort zone AT ALL ▫️ Since then, I've spent ~90% of my time in a gaining/maintaining phase with a focus on GROWING and getting STRONGER 💪🏽 And guess what? I have 🔹 Not every day is perfect. I don't always hit my macros (not even CLOSE) but I've been very consistent overall. I don't miss training sessions except on rare occasions. I prepare to EXECUTE every day. I get my sleep because I know I need as much as I can get to perform my best. I eat wholesome foods to nourish my body and keep my satiated 🔺 I'm still growing. I'm still learning. I've definitely not had a perfect journey. I have an appreciation not only for how far I've come, but how far I still have to go ▫️ #itsamarathonnotasprint

Read 👇🏽 ----- 142 --> 155 lbs I remember weighing myself in the left photo and thinking I could stand to lose another 7 pounds to get down to 135 by the end of the summer 💀 And, now, my body sits at 155 very comfortably. ----- Starting my Summer Group was a HUGE eye opener into the misinformation about what it means to "recomp" your body (usually, this term is used to mean adding muscle and losing body fat, often resulting in the same body weight at the end) and how to do it ----- How does one do this? I've said this before, but it is VERY important to realize that the gaining of muscle and loss of body fat generally do not happen simultaneously. GENERALLY. You CAN add muscle in a deficit (deficit = eating less calories than your body needs to maintain weight) ... "if you're a novice, chronically detrained, obese, taking steroids, or a unicorn 🦄 prince(ss)." (best put by someone on twitter) ----- So how does one put on muscle and lose body fat? Answer: one step at a time! Take time to grow by eating more calories than your body needs to maintain weight (yes, you will gain some fat too). At the end of your growing phase, eating in a caloric deficit (preferably slowly to maintain as much muscle as possible) to lose body fat. NOTE: this process takes a long time. Read: ThIs tAkeS a lOnG tImE ----- My recommendation? GROW FIRST! Take the time to put on muscle NOW. It's worth the wait, I promise 🙂 #TransformationTuesday

I didn’t even realize I was doing this to myself- feeling like I needed to have it all figured out by now and letting that feeling upset me because, well, I am nowhere close to having it figured out 😂 . I heard someone say a while back that she who goes a mile in five minutes and she who goes a mile in thirty minutes... both went the same distance. The point is- it doesn’t really matter how fast you do things 🤷🏼‍♀️ . I don’t even remember where I first read this and I’ve posted it before but it’s changed the way I view leadership. 👇🏽 . "When there is a leadership vacuum, a need for leadership, you don't have to wait to become King, director, Vice President, CEO, or anything, before you step into leadership. Anywhere you see a leadership vacuum, God is going to raise somebody up. That might be you. Train yourself when you see leadership vacuums instead of getting discouraged and frustrated to turn to God and say 'what do you want to do with me?' Because God might be raising you up without a title." . This is so powerful to me. God doesn’t care what our “roles” are. He just wants us to be effective leaders and servants of Christ.   • Allowing people who barely know us to control our actions and thoughts is so exhausting 🧠 . We are going to have so many people that barely know us pass judgements on us throughout our lives, to which we have no control over. But we do have control over how it influences us to act and think. Hear me out ... . . I truly believe an increase in self awareness can change so many aspects of our lives- ESPECIALLY how we react to these people who barely know us. In so many cases. . Self aware people know that their own opinions of who they are far more important than anybody else’s opinion of who they are. . They also know that they’re more than their thoughts and feelings. Thinking/feeling a certain way is fine for a minute, but ultimately they know they’re so much more than that. . Self aware people don’t take their results personally. They allow feedback to make them better, not tear them down. . Most importantly- self aware people take responsibility. Because taking responsibility means you are in control- you can DO something about it. . I read these things in a blog by @matt_hearnden a while back and it really challenged my thinking 🤔 . Self awareness, in a lot of cases, is truly just being in control of the situation 💡 Being in control of how you feel/think/react/take responsibility. And that’s so powerful to me. .   • I’m constantly reminding myself that waiting for the perfect moment... does not exist. I’ve slowly become somebody who just jumps in. Ready or not. . I wouldn’t have done a single photoshoot this summer if I waited for the right time lmao. I was busy af. I was coming from class with literally 16 minutes to get ready, pack, AND get there AND head straight to a family dinner right after bahaha (as in the day me and @rk_photto did this shoot). . I’m not saying I overcame some great feat by attending a photoshoot when I was busy. I’m saying that if I had waited because I didn’t feel good, was busy, and only had a short window of time, I would have missed some great opportunities 🤷🏼‍♀️ and this is true so often in my life. . I can’t do it ALL (I’m learning this 😅), but I say ‘yes’ as often as possible cause you never know what might come of an experience.   • If I could go back and tell myself anything at the beginning of my fitness journey it would be these things: 1.) you don’t need to track macros everyday to be successful 2.) in fact, you don’t need to do any one thing to be successful except to find what makes YOU happy, healthy, and consistent- do that. 3.) nobody else’s journey matters when it comes to planning your own. person x eats this amount- who cares. you need a different amount of food to reach your goals. person y tracks macros and eats vegan except for one free day a week. person z does CrossFit, yoga, AND powerlifter!!! who cares, that might not work for you! DO YOU BOO 4.) your journey is gonna change as time goes on! that’s OK. as long as you keep going, keep doing something that makes you happy and healthy. keep being consistent. . . What I don’t do is talk about it much on here anymore, and that is because: . • Instead of sharing my gym time with IG, I share it with my lovely bf @shaneomara_dpt 🖤 I trained alone most of the time for 4 years. And now I have a workout buddy everyday! How cool is that 🤗 gym time is our time together. We teach each other a lot. Someday we plan to share our wealth of knowledge with you guys- but for now it’s our time. . • My priorities have shifted. I don’t care to put energy into creating content for instagram right now. That would take away from another area of my life, and I’m all booked up 💁🏼‍♀️ I’m happy with my balance of priorities. . • I’m much more interested in photography, videography, and modeling than I am in fitness. So I’ve been following more accounts that have similar lifestyles as me :) . • The fitness community annoys me (obviously not everyone 🙄) I’ll just leave it at that for now lol ☕️ 🐸 . • I’m chasing big things. I don’t have the time for this app that I used to. *hence followers dropping like flies* *hence engagement at an all time low* lol but that’s okay. Life changes friends.   • Okay, people. I’ve never posted anything like this and I usually keep this part of my life to myself... but I am feeling HYPED right now. So if you feel offended by my butt, you can unfollow me or just keep your thoughts to yourself. First photograph was September 10, 2017. The second was today, September 10, 2018. Weight in both pictures is within 5 pounds of each other. I am an average woman. I eat cookie dough on weekdays and Angry Orchards on Saturday’s. Some weeks I only make it to the gym one day. Most weeks I’m there 4-5 days. But over this last year, a lot has changed. I gained a lot of knowledge. I got a coach that programs my workouts and helps me perfect my form (S/O to @kodi_humphrey). I changed my relationship with food. I track my macros- some weeks I am really strict, others it’s more of a guess. I strive to get protein in every meal and limit unnecessary sugars/calories. I have learned to love my body as it is, but I strive to always be a better version of myself. It’s HARD making time for the gym. But if you make it a priority, before Netflix or before your social life- you will see progress. It’s crazy too, because a year ago is when I stopped doing insane amounts of cardio. I run a mile before I lift, sometimes I just walk at an incline for 15-20 minutes. Now I focus my workouts around compound lifts. And I understand the concept of moderation. That’s not to say I don’t occasionally eat a whole pizza or 8 cookies.. but 75% of my diet is enjoying foods that fuel my body. It’s not a secret formula, it’s not countless hours on a treadmill, and it’s not some stupid detox concoction. I’ve got a long way to go before I’m content, if that’ll ever happen. But it’s important to recognize the progress along the way. I am better than I was yesterday and that is an accomplishment for me. #lionheartedstrong #progress

  • Finally decided on a powerlifting meet to compete in this year 😅 if you watched my story last night you already know, but I procrastinated a wee bit too long on registering for a meet and limited myself so much that I’m traveling to Ohio to compete 🙄 (please comment and tag @katieanne100 and @fitmomforever77 and tell them to clear their schedules on December 9th) . I’m EXCITED! . I’m taking @shaneomara_dpt with me AND he’s letting me coach him for the next 13 weeks 😛 But I also agreed to letting him program my auxiliary training and coach me on those exercises so... this gon be fun. He’s working on unilateral and core strengthening exercises with me, which I desperately need to work on my imbalances and weak core. And I’m helping him with his squat, bench, and deadlift form and teaching him how to not train to failure everyday. Yes he’s one of those people. . Who has a meet planned?   • I think we should all be doing more things that scare us. . Ever do something out of what’s ordinary for you and find what a great experience it was? (And here you are 5 years later still talking about it) . Why on earth don’t we do MORE of that? . This summer I did a lot of things I could have soooo easily been like “nah I don’t have time” “too scary” “too this/that” . This photoshoot with @rk_photto for one. A bit out of my comfort zone AND it was so last minute I had to rearrange my plans, but I made it happen because I vowed to step out of my box more this summer. . I also: - started a blog (info coming soon) - started working on a new business - took on three different and new part time jobs this summer - put in an application at a modeling agency - learned a LOT in my spare time (I even bought a book... who am I) instead of watching so much Netflix *although I did watch The Ranch and it was great so if you watched it let’s talk okok* - ate really good food every day (oh wait that’s not something out of my comfort zone 😝) . I find that sometimes we sit around waiting for doors to open (mistake #1) . And then when opportunities arise... . We are too [insert excuse from above] .   • Sounds silly- but I get through a lot of things by simply reminding myself that there’s thousands of people doing and going through the exact. same. thing. as me. . “Thousands of people have done this so why can’t I?” . I thought this very thought the first time I got on a roller coaster. I was scared shitless. It’s laughable now, of course. But you get the point. . I was nervous to go off to college and move out on my own into a tiny dorm room with a girl I had never bet before. But I thought- thousands of people are doing this- so I knew I would be fine. . I also remind myself of this when life gets really hard. When I feel like making it to the end of the week is going to be a miracle. . You got this. It’s been done. You can do hard things.   • There’s a lot of teenage girls and young 20 somethings that follow this page. If that’s you- maybe you’re starting college or in college. Maybe you’re confused about what path to take with your life. I know I was- and still feel that way sometimes. . I want to offer some wisdom- informal and from a place of experience- rather than advice (as @krissymaecagney put it so well) because I’m still a young twenty something in college and trying to figure out my purpose 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I think I can offer you a bit of what I’ve learned in the last four years of school. . 🔅 Classes are only going to get harder (obvi, i know). Harder classes are harder A’s. 4.0 as many classes as you possibly can early on. Come out of the gate strong so you’re not playing catch up later on. . Well Kodi if I don’t know what program I’m gonna apply to how do I know if I’m gonna need those A’s anyways?👇🏽 🔅Answer: nobody ever regretted putting in the extra effort to get the better grade. Rather be safe than sorry! Short story time: i once was finishing up a theater class. yes theater. With a 3.5. Good grade but all I needed to do was attend a few hours of stage production for enough extra credit to get the A. It was a little thing that made a big difference. 🔅 People who go the extra mile are the people who get into competitive programs. Don’t want to get into a competitive program? People who go the extra mile in college also go the extra mile in their careers. Keep going. Whatever you do- it will pay off 🔅 Be proactive. Proactive isn’t “what can I do to help?” It’s “here’s what I’ve done to help.” 🔅 Be a team player. Read that again. 🔅 Be prepared with the knowledge that there’s things that you just. can’t. prepare. for. You’re going to learn how to make it happen regardless. 🔅 Ask for help. You should have several mentors. People doing what you want to do. People who have done it. Talk to them often. . . I could probably add 20 more things to this list but I’ll leave it at this for now. Did anybody find this helpful in any way? I want to be a helpful resource to those who need to hear this so leave a comment with something you would add or something I can talk about next 👇🏽

It’s important you know what your dream is because otherwise you’re wandering aimlessly. You don’t need EVERY detail. . But write it down. . Include everything. What’s your job? Where are you? Who are you with? What are you doing? What are you willing to compromise and what are you not? Maybe all the details aren’t important. Maybe a couple are uncompromisable. . Things are probably going to change- our dreams tend to do that as we grow, change, have new experiences .. . I sometimes scroll through my feed and read what I previously have wrote when I was feeling more like myself. Or I read through some feeds of people who inspire me. I also will look through my photo album to a time I was in a better mood- like on this particular day when I was at the beach in Jacksonville a few months back. . I might not be able to sit at the beach with frozen custard in my hand everyday, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be inspired and excited everyday. Amiright?? . Every individual is unique, after all, and needs something different to be successful. • I love designing things- websites, scrapbooks, furniture, you name it. • I love creative writing- speeches (anybody wanna watch my maid of honor speech from @kenzie_murr and @larsmurray24 wedding? I’ll email you the link lol), writing IG captions 🤷🏼‍♀️ and writing cute love notes on the fridge for @shaneomara_dpt 😘 • It’s no wonder I love baking and (sometimes) cooking. There’s so much room for creativity. • I’m obsessed with photography and videography even though I don’t do much creating in this department. It’s fascinating. • I’m also fascinated by artists and dancers.   • My life changed when I decided to just make SH*T happen . I sometimes wonder how my life would be different if I hadn't spent so much time making excuses . "I don't have enough time" "I don't have enough money" "I don't have rich parents" (like I thought every successful fit person must have because who can fully commit to this lifestyle while also going to school and working a job?) "I'm too stressed" "I'm not 'outgoing' enough" "I'm waiting for a door to open” . While many of these are perfectly fine reasons to not get other things done- a lot of times they are just hindering your potential. Make time, save your money, work hard, organize your schedule, practice socializing/being outgoing/making friends, build a door or make opportunities for yourself.   • Raise your hand if vacation has ever felt stressful to you because you wanted to stay healthy but didn’t wanna have to stress about it? 🙌🏽 . . It’s easy to look at what makes other people happy/ healthy and expect that that will work for us. . “So and so woke up every morning on vacation and ran a mile. Do I have to do that??” . Or “my friend eliminated alcoholic beverages on her trip and didn’t gain weight. Do I have to do that??” . What works best for everyone else is not necessarily what’s going to make you happy (who wants to have a lame or stressful vacation? not me) or healthy (stress is not healthy people, neither is obsessing over food/ calories, and neither is overeating because you don’t have a plan). . But it’s difficult to not be so influenced by everyone else’s version of health and happiness. . Here’s my real life example maybe some of you can relate to or appreciate👇🏽 . I went on an all inclusive trip to Cabo in March (that’s where this pic was taken). I had never done all inclusive before and was STOKED to eat lots of good food and to be able to try all different kinds of drinks 🍹🍸🍷 . I had many people asking me during that trip what low cal drinks I was having. I explained that I wasn’t 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was drinking whatever kinds of drinks I wanted. . I made the choice to have whatever drinks I wanted, but keep my meals on the “healthier” side. And this didn’t take away from my trip whatsoever. In fact, I felt really, really good about this decision. . For ME, this was what made me HAPPY and HEALTHY on this trip 😊 . As we know- maybe this wouldn’t have been the best route for you to take. You need to come up with your own game plan. Figure out what makes you happiest and healthiest in situations like these and rock it out 😎💃🏼 . .   • I started crying in my car this morning (I’m emotional ok) because I felt this overwhelming urge to share this with you guys- that maybe somebody really needs to hear this right now. ^ In my experience- you can’t change people. All you can do is provide them with tools and knowledge and lead by example. The rest is up to them. They have to want to make a change. You. can’t. do. it. for. them. ^ It really doesn’t matter if he/ she falls in love with you. It really doesn’t matter how long you’ve been friends. Or how long you have been dating. *insert scenario* ^ I also wanted to tell you that people are going to hurt your feelings. Some people are probably going to stab you in the back at some point in your life. This is not a reflection of you. This is a reflection of them. It may be poor character, jealousy, insecurity, who knows. who cares. ^ What’s important is that you don’t get hung up on it for too long. Don’t let anybody else’s issues drag you down, hold you back, or keep you from living your life. Don’t wait around for people to change for you. You gotta keep on movin’ boo. Don’t waste your time.   • Do you realize that you might be just a few small, sustainable steps away from getting on track to your weight loss goals? ^ Here’s some ideas to consider 👇🏽 ^ 1.) Switch to diet pop and calorie free drinks. There’s a million and a half great options. Stop drinking your calories. ^ 2.) Prioritize protein. Buffet? Potluck? No problem. Enjoy a little bit of each thing you want, but start out with some protein. It will fill you up a bit and you will make sure to get some #gains in there ^ 3.) You don’t have to give up cheddar biscuits when you go out to dinner (yanno, the red lobster ones?) you just have to give up eating 6 cheddar biscuits 🤷🏼‍♀️ #guilty ^ 4.) Drink your water. ^ 5.) Switch to fat free/ low fat options. Example: I eat a bag of popcorn everyday. At least one bag. Low fat popcorn still tastes great (and I add tons of cheesy popcorn salts duh- cause there’s no calories in that) and has 100-200 less calories per bag That’s 700-1400 calories a week. THATS POTENTIALLY 1/4 POUND RIGHT THERE. Example B: low/ fat free coffee creamer. Still tastes great. Saves me tons of calories (who else drinks 29 cups of coffee a day? 🙋🏼‍♀️) ^ Can you think of other ways you can easily save yourself some calories? ^ Small steps. Little changes.   • “Why do you like powerlifting so much?” ^ I love when people ask me this question because it gives me the opportunity to advocate for such a great sport 🤩 ^ Where to begin? ... ^ Powerlifting gives me a chance to work toward something (getting stronger) while simultaneously growing muscle, staying active, and staying healthy. The gym time is also my ME time. Win win win win. win. ^ Like many of you, I played sports in high school.🏀 🏃🏼‍♀️ I knew when I got to college I had to do something 🤷🏼‍♀️ ^ So why not just train for fun? ^ That’s not a good enough “why” for me (refer to my last post) 🤷🏼‍♀️ ^ I’m goal-oriented to the core. My “why” has to be very important to me or I won’t waste my time (just being honest). I conserve my time and energy for the important things. ^ Other things I love about powerlifting. It’s an individual sport. I go at my pace and do it my own way. I go to the gym when it’s convenient for me. The powerlifting community is incredible- everyone cheers for each other at meets; it’s such a fun environment. ^ If you’re a powerlifter- what do you love about the sport? People said “oh no not another ‘fitness’ chick sharing her journey.” A lot of people poked fun at me. (For the record many of them have returned to ask for my advice 🙀) ^ Another example: I told people I was “training for fun” for a long time because I didn’t feel like I could call myself a powerlifter- that might make people uncomfortable.. 😣 ^ Another example: I told some people I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to go to college for because some are intimidated by people with big goals, a plan, and plus, “you will change your mind anyway along the way” 🙄 (PS I didn’t. 4 years into college at the same university and 4 semesters through the same graduate program I’ve had my eyes on since my senior year of HS 🙇🏼‍♀️) ^ Anotha one: I’ve eaten things, put away my food scale, tried to hide going to the gym, and countless other things at time to make people feel more comfortable around me, more comfortable about their unhealthy lifestyle, you name it. ^ There was a time when I didn’t share much about my faith because religion makes people uncomfortable.   • If I could be anything what would I be? ^ I frequently ask myself this. I want to be a lot of things. And my list keeps growing, but I’ve got a lifetime (Lord willing). ^ ▪️A full time coffee-drinker, for one. DUH. @liveoakcoffeehouse ▪️A competitor - I wanna do all the sports. Train for all the things. I wanna push my body in every way possible (Maybe even run a race of some kind someday? Don’t hold your breath though). ▪️ I also want to train for fun. The gym is my “me” time (that’s why I don’t take pics/ videos at the gym hardly ever 🤷🏼‍♀️). ▪️A major foodie. Like Guy Fieri except I probably won’t have my own TV show- but that’s okay (I frequently stop at places he’s been whenever traveling across the country). ▪️An occupational therapist. I wanna help people do what they LOVE and need to do. What’s cooler than that?!? ▪️A coach. Nothing brings me to life quite like teaching people how to transform their bodies, how to powerlifter, how to eat to reach their goals.   • Today I was challenged to speak kindly to myself by @katherinedonna and to share 1.) something I love about myself 2.) something I am proud of 3.) something I need to work on ^ something I love about myself is my relentless effort to evolve. I put a lot of energy into becoming the person I want to be. No excuses. ^ I am proud of the balance I’ve established, and continue to establish, in my life. I’ve eliminated so many “extremes” in my life and work hard to balance all of my priorities- my relationship w Jesus, family, school, work, friends, fitness. ^ I need to work on chilling the ef out when I don’t have a set-in-stone schedule for the day. I’ve been go-go-go for literally years. For the first time since probably my freshman year of college, I have a little “free time” and I do mean a little lol. Productivity standards do not (should not) rule my life. ^ This reflection has been good for me. But maybe don’t know how to ask. ^ Maybe it’s an opportunity to inspire someone who’s uninspired. ^ I always get asked- why are you going to school for OT if you love fitness and nutrition so much?!?! ^ Good question. I don’t have to answer in detail to everyone who asks me this. I could just say “oh OT is a great field and I just like it.” And to some people- this is what I say. ^ But I try to take the opportunity to INSPIRE people because you never know who might need it. ^ People notice when you’re enthusiastic about what you do- and they want to know WHY. It’s a good thing.   • I used to hate being in front of a camera. All I could notice in photos of myself was stray hairs, my outfit didn’t look right, how awkward I looked, blah blah blah. ^ What I couldn’t appreciate then that I do now is the art of capturing moments. It’s beautiful to be able to look back on photographs and remember that vacation, that day, that moment. ^ Looking back, we don’t care what clothes we had on (I know- the long, Aeropostale graphic tees was not a cute trend. I lived it, too, but I digress). ^ We just want to be able to go back in time and relive the moment. ^ I mentioned this in yesterday’s post, but it’s 100% true and worth mentioning again —> the only photos you regret are the ones you don’t take. ^ Life is beautiful.   • “You can do anything but not everything” • (team always trying to do way more than I can handle checking in 🙋🏼‍♀️) • Anybody else?!? • I can honestly say that this is one of my biggest struggles as a human being trying to find her way in the world. • I try to do way too much at one time. • I start projects that I don’t have time to finish and feel frustrated. • I have 397 hobbies and want to improve on all of them at the same time (and recently took up golfing 🏌️‍♀️ cause I gotta keep up with @shaneomara_dpt ) • I have soo many career aspirations- both for Occupational Therapy and for fitness and powerlifting. I want to start them all NOW. • The reality? • My life (right now- in May 2018) is almost completely consumed by grad school, training, spending time with family/friends, and working with my clients. • I simply do not have time to work on many of the additional things I want to • So what do I do? It’s really devastating to me how much our plastic usage affects all the innocent little lives, like my turtle friend here, and how little the majority of our population cares. Even the smallest lifestyle changes can help lessen the impact of the massive plastic footprint we are leaving. Plastic can take up to 1000 YEARS to decompose. Take reusable bags to the grocery store. Say no to plastic straws. Recycle your soda bottles. Reuse plastic containers.   • Why are the first things that come to our minds when we think about who we are all the things we don‘t like about ourselves?. • We are taught to not say „I love myself/ I‘m awesome/ I‘m beautiful“ because it makes us look arrogant and full of ourselves. But it honestly doesn‘t. It makes us love who we are, makes us confident. And when we get to that point - the highest point of self acceptance and self love - people will get offended because they can‘t offend you anymore. These people can‘t learn to be okay with themselves and so they want to drag you down. They want you to feel just as bad as them but you won‘t let them. And that‘s what scares them. It takes a lot of practise to get to that point of self acceptance and there‘s always room to improve. And you can only get better when you try. So try. ✨ I want you to take pen and paper and write down 5 things you love about yourself. Highlight the positives. Write them down and read them. Over and over and over again. Manifest them into your brain so that from now on, whenever someone asks who you are you can let them know these 5 words about you. That‘s how you spread acceptance and positivity. By accepting yourself. Enjoying yourself. Loving yourself. Appreciating yourself.
