  • 🇺🇸 NYC Marathon Training - Week 5 Day 33: 10 miler Long Run✅ . First week with 4 runs! I felt tired during all my runs except today 🙌🏻 I felt strong and the weather was perfect. The first weeks of a marathon training are about building the base or foundation. During these weeks it is so easy to feel tired and out of shape, but after a few weeks of consistent and hard work we start seeing how our body is adapting and, as a consequence, getting stronger. I think I am getting into that phase 💪🏻 Now it is time to enjoy the rest of my weekend with my family ❤️ • 🌎Entrenamiento para el Maratón de NYC Semana 5 Día 33: Largo de 10 millas ✅ . Primera semana con 4 carreras! Me sentí cansada durante todas mis carreras, excepto hoy 🙌🏻 Me sentí fuerte y el clima estuvo perfecto. Las primeras semanas de un entrenamiento de maratón son sobre la construcción de la base o fundación. Durante estas semanas es muy fácil sentirse cansado y fuera de forma, pero después de unas semanas de trabajo consistente y duro, comenzamos a ver cómo nuestro cuerpo se va adaptando y, como consecuencia, se está haciendo más fuerte.   • DAILY CHECK-IN - July 21 WEIGHT - 193 (same) WATER - 96 ozs POINTS/CALORIES - over/under LOGGED FOOD - yes EXERCISED - yes DAY’S SUMMARY - walked a lot today to run errands. While all my food choices weren’t the healthiest, I measured and weighed almost everything today. Good thing I did, I had overestimated some items and ended up under calories but over points. I’ll take it. Now I’m done for the day.   • This Dave (NOT Jeff, lol @mister_fromm ), one of the Golden Voices of New York Road Runners. Tomorrow (July 22nd) is my 14 year Runversary with New York Road Runners, and I remember hearing his voice announcing from the very beginning of my time running races with NYRR! I ran the TCS New York City Marathon Training Series 12 Miler this morning, and tomorrow is the 14th anniversary of my running of my first ever NYRR race, the Nike Run Hit Wonder 10K. That was one of the coolest races I've ever run, and I got to see a bunch of bands perform live, and DEVO was the headliner at the end of the race! Too freaking cool! So crazy how fast time flies, and I'm still loving these races, especially hearing familiar and friendly voices of encouragement at the start and finish of every race! And it was because of the running...I always said I had this hidden reservoir of strength and power and it came from running. The other kids thought I was crazy because I would run in the rain, snow.. it didn't matter. I did it because I didn't just want to be better than the next guy. I wanted to be better than all the guys. He didn't always run in a straight line, either. In 1979, in his WBC welterweight title bout against Wilfredo Benitez, it was reported: "[Leonard] rises at daybreak and runs four miles—one shadowboxing all the way backward and the last in under five minutes.   • Stressed to the max lately, I wasn’t sure my body could even handle this race. Barely sleeping over the last two weeks has taken a toll on my life collectively. I got home from a 14 hour day last night with a few more things to finish up before taking my FIRST weekend off since CHRISTMAS - No wonder I’m so fucking stressed !?! I love what I do, but I tend to forget to keep myself a priority (*do not try this at home). I went to bed with the notion that I’d leave it to chance + how I felt, sans alarm. Naturally woke up at 5:30am with an overwhelming calmness. I sauntered my way over to the park, arriving just before the start time. Picked up my bib and took my sweet ass time joining the absolute end of the starting line, 10 minutes after the first round took off. I gave zero fucks about anything. I felt so peaceful and just wanted to run with that. It was the best run I’ve had, probably ever. My body felt strong + light. I didn’t try to pace or push myself. I just enjoyed it and felt incredibly free. Lessons collected - Prioritize your well-being; Not everything has to be a competition with yourself; Enjoy the moment; You got this, you know you do 🏌🏻‍♀️ Any time goals previously set, have been completely disregarded moving forward.   • 1st out of 3 #tcsnycmarathontraining is complete. It was a challenge to wake up at 3:30 as the start was at 7 but boooyyy can't stop proving for myself that it's all worth the effort : the incredible bliss, enjoyment and satisfaction feelings are through the roof now. And of course I always crave the desert to the official distance and added extra 3 miles to the 12miler course. 😜😜😜 because why not 😅👍😀.

And to see the distance at end, I love that. When it’s over, I love that. I do not love running yet, but I really really really like it a lot. My first 26.2 will probably change that. Next up I chased this incredible woman around that stupid park trying my best not to lose sight of her and guess what we’re #instafriends 🤗 Thanks @cryssy_baby_ for being my pacer today . . . . Next my sole sister @zaveve helped start my training day but giving me all kinda love to start my run #crewlove 😘 . . . . The next incredible sister to surround me with her Kick Asphalt high vibrating energy was my newest sole sister I met during last week’s run 💫 . . . . Lastly I completed today’s 12mi Marathon Training Run with lots to learn from, but feeling fantastic.   • @nyrr Training Series 12 Miles (19.3K) ✅ 105 days until @nycmarathon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🇺🇸: I was reflecting on this today: Marathons & marathon training are not always about smiles and flashy, Instagram-worthy pictures. There’s an enormous amount of work happening behind the scenes. It’s tough. It’s challenging and demanding. Frankly, every race, every training long run there is a point, when you want to stop and quit. But you don’t stop. You take a step after step, you keep going, you push yourself further. There are no shortcuts and easy way out of this struggle. THAT IS the beauty of running. It’s You vs You. Nothing less, nothing more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🇷🇺: Сегодня во время этих 19.3 км я размышлял о следующем: Марафоны и подготовка к ним - это не только улыбки или яркие фотографии в Инстаграме. Человек проделывает очень большой труд «за кулисами» фотографий. Жесткая подготовка выматывает и испытывает тебя. И, честно говоря, в абсолютно каждой гонке или длинном тренировочном забеге наступает момент, когда хочется все бросить и остановиться. Но ты не останавливаешься. Шаг за шагом ты продолжаешь, заставляя себя преодолевать все трудности и барьеры. В этой борьбе нет легкого пути. Все, что стоит чего-то, никогда не достанется просто так. В этом и заключается прелесть бега. В беге - ТЫ своя главная надежда, ТЫ свой главный враг. Не больше, не меньше. #NYRR #RoadToThePark

  • Happy weekend, friends! The first week of @nycmarathon training is in the books. Another 15 weeks to go! The biggest struggle this week was slowing down to the recommended paces. I’m accustomed to going a little faster than suggested, but I’m trying to trust the process. Especially because the plan is from the talented folks at @nyrr. It will be fun to look at the analytics for this run. I kept running 8:15/8:20, noticed it on my watch, and then slowed to 8:50-9:00. It happened again and again.
