Of all the moments on the day I killed my bull, this one is most fond. After all the meat was cut off my bull, my best friend @coltonkoehler and wingman Chris and I just sat there, talking about what just happened, along with the suckfest about to go down packing this bull off the mountain. Being present in these moments are what I cherish most in this life. I can’t thank these guys enough. It certainly would’ve taken at least 3 days to pack all that meat out alone and I would’ve lost a good portion of it to spoilage in the September sun.
I also have to express my gratitude to @katyrose6 At the time, she was a new mother for only 3 days. Allowing Colton to leave their newborn son when he was supposed to be at home all day taking care of them both, well she definitely understands what it means being married to a hunter. @coltonkoehler And @katyrose6 I love you both to the moon and back.
Blistered feet along with bleeding hips and shoulders from immense pack weight welcomed us at the pickup. We spent the next couple days licking our wounds as best we could.
These kind of moments are precious. Full of adrenaline and doing what we were made for, we strengthen our ties and relish in the fact that we have hit the ultimate lottery. We are hunters.

"This was my second trip to chase elk in Livingston Montana with Montana Whitetails Inc. Tree stand hunting for elk may be a bit unconventional - but in this case, it was the perfect setup. The stand is located in a finger of woods with the Shields River on the back side and alfalfa fields on the other. ⠀ ⠀
On the second morning the stars aligned when a cow and a calf entered the woodlot 120 yards in front of me with two bulls in tow.⠀ ⠀
Both bulls dogged the cow and calf and at 50 yards my bull broke free and presented a 50 yard shot. The Carbon Air Stealth performed flawlessly, and the bull only went 60 yards before piling up.⠀ ⠀
My first bull elk and I could not be more excited!" ⠀
