Hey yogis! It’s Tuesday so it’s time to meet another teacher...Nan Cole, or @nanyogahikes 💐Why do you teach yoga?
YOGA IS DISRUPTIVE. My yoga practice enables me to connect with my inner wisdom and calm the inner critic. My method of teaching is designed to offer tools to notice and let go of mental chatter and physical tension we cling to.
🌷What style of yoga do you teach?
THE NON-COMPETITIVE KIND. My goal for students is simple: when they walk out that studio door, they feel emboldened to impart kindness to themselves and others.
🌹What are your yoga superpowers?
I SEE YOGA EVERYWHERE. I practice yoga when I’m hiking and cooking and crafting and playing. Yoga frames my worldview: I am purpose-driven and use the practice as a method of self-discovery.

I used to think that a great birthday was one that consisted of meaningful presents and my loved ones going above and beyond. I expected so much from them. I thought they should read my mind. When they didn’t I would get upset and be miserable. I now know those things don’t make a great birthday. My perspective makes a great birthday. Yesterday I celebrated my 45th birthday and it was a great one. In the past I would have thought it was awful. You see, my husband left at 4 am for a business trip; my kids forgot to wish me a happy birthday in the morning before school; I bought my own cupcakes; I made dinner and 2 out of my 3 kids sang happy birthday to me. The old me would have been miserable. The new me looked at the good. I had so many family and friends reach out and wish me a happy birthday. They said many heartfelt words to me which lifted my soul. I enjoyed cupcakes with my kids. I reflected on my journey. How great I feel inside and out. How I’m more confident. How I’m finding more joy. How I’m making a difference. So even though it wasn’t a picture perfect birthday it was a great one!! Letting go of unrealistic expectations has been the best thing I have ever done. I enjoy my birthday, Mother’s Day and holidays so much more now. Can’t wait to see what this year brings!! #45yearsyoung#momof3kids#specialneedsmom#dsmom#prespective#mindfulinthemuddle#myjourney
