  • FRUSTRATION! Go ahead. Yell at the sky! I have logged zero running miles now x 5 days 😑 and feel it’s likely going to be a full 2-3 weeks before I log any. Here are my top tips to not crack up while dealing with injury: 1. Seek immediate help from an exercise therapist or PT. They can help get you through an injury quicker and help you to realize you didn’t ask for this. (That’s a big deal) 2. When you begin to feel your mood dipping low, reach out. Talk to someone. Mental health is just as important as your physical health. 3. Find another way to keep moving forward. Know that what you are dealing with is temporary. Be smart about recovery and respect the time it takes. Through some research of my own with google MD (don’t tell me you haven’t done the same 🤣) I’m dealing with a grade 2-3 calf strain. I did everything right from the moment it happened so there’s hope for everyone if even I can learn from past injuries♥️🙂 Stay tuned to stories for more antics and karaoke on my M5 and snow bank cool downs on the lawn for the next bit as I recover! Happy Sunday all! Run a mile for me!

  • 50K RECAP: okay... for all you people with this race on your bucket list, here are my 2cents. Mind you, I'm from the midwest and only moved to elevation 3 months ago; also, I'm a road runner. The only other "trail" race I have done was a 5mile downhill run when I first moved here. It felt like 28 at the start, but planned to feel like 59 by the end so I knew I needed to pack light. Race started all up hill for 3 miles, and then downhill for another few. These downhill miles felt great, so I just let my body go with it. Enter the trails... first bit of trails were pretty open and easy compared to what was to come. I knew from researching the race that I had 15 miles mostly uphill and then the last half was "downhill," so I was just trying to make it to that point. Skipped the first few aid stations since I had gels and my Camelback. I about ate it 10x and had to flail my arms out wildly to keep balance, which would spike my HR each time, but I did NOT fall. The terrain was not as "flat" as people kept telling me. Jumping over cracks in the rock, jumping off boulders and having loose rock pieces roll your ankles is not flat to me. Stopped at the last 2 aid stations for water. The last half did NOT feel very downhill. I'm sure it's because I was tired by then, but I tripped a lot, and there was CAUTION painted here and there so as not to fall down the slick rock. Then, back to the trails we entered on.. 3 miles uphill... in sand. We all know running in sand sucks. Goal at this point: make it to the downhill finish. And I did, with muscle cramps under my ribs; I had to stop a few times and try to rub/stretch them out, but I could see the finish. Stopped toward the end to coax my daughter into joining my son and me to the finish line, which she obliged and was surprised they both didnt stop all the way to the finish chute. So proud of them and I was surprised at myself. I'm sore in places road races dont go; this recovery may be different but may be faster since it wasnt pounding pavement. Calves hurt, leg muscles up from my feet are sore, but not my back, like usual. Dont worry, I'll roll it out 😉 if I ever did this again, I would REALLY need to up my trail game!

  • Yes!!! 😀😁😀 If you read my last post you’ll know I was worried I’d be too sore for this. But it was a huge success! The weather was ideal and I decided to really challenge myself. — 2 miles at 6:58, 6:54 4 mins recovery jog 4 x 1 mile w/3 mins recovery jog: 6:39, 6:37, 6:39, 6:40 2 miles at 6:56, 6:51 — I was prescribed 7:00 for the 2-mile segments and 6:40 for the 1-mile segments. My route was gently rolling hills. Surprisingly, the last 2 miles felt easier than the first 2. I think that running a 6:40 pace makes 7:00 feel comfortable. — I’m so happy I challenged myself to push through the entire workout on sore legs. 13.5 miles total, including warm up and cool down. — This photo was taken during the 3rd mile repeat by @gregclor.

. 🔹Y menos mal que lo hice. Pese al resfriado, al frío, la lluvia y el barro conseguí mi MMP en 21K, 1h 44’ 42” ✌🏻😁

  • Today’s agenda included a walk to get the legs moving after yesterday’s race. Luckily there’s no shortage of good walks in Flag. . . . The Pass Mountain 50k went way better than my previous (and first) ultra. I hung on until mile 26 where I hit a wall and dropped a few places back, finishing 13th in what ended up being a pretty fast field. . . . Now to take it easy, and start thinking about what’s next!

.  #automne # nature #pomme #apple #oneappleaday #healthyrunner #running #trailrunning #runmagicfood #healthylifestyle #runnerscommunity #trail #run #runningaddict #igrunner #trailrunner #igtrailer #runningcommunity #outdoor #happyrunningcrew #healthyfood #healthy #instarunners #instarunfrance #courseapied #plantbased . 📷 : Roberta Sorge

#goaldigger #kvalitetsliv #lifedesign #yogamountainfestival #åre #totthummeln #fromwhereirun 📸 @fredriknygre
