Thank you everyone for your support over these months. Social media can be so powerful especially with such an amazing support network. The messages and comments I have received over the year have played a huge impact on where I am today! 💞 . . . ➡ to see my total

  • What are you passionate about🔥? . . . Is it that moment before a kiss💋? The work you do each day👍🏻? Or the joy you get from spending time with your family and friends👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️? . . . Maybe it doesn’t have to be one thing🤷🏻‍♂️, maybe passion is less about the things you do😊, and more about how you choose to live each day🤟🏻💥? • Yes, I’m an ultra runner🏃🏻‍♂️, and I’m passionate about it🤘🏻, however it’s just one of the ways I express my passion for life☝🏻. . . I guess that’s how I am. And I totally get it’s not the way others do it💁🏻‍♂️, and that’s great👍🏻, I reckon our differences and how we express ourselves is what makes life so much more interesting anyway😉. . . • Yes, I love my girl😍 and I’m not afraid to show it❤️. On this  #wcw I’m reminded of the anticipation and the butterflies in my stomach🦋I had during that first moment we met and kissed💋🔥, and the best part is, I still get them today😘. . . • 50K RECAP: okay... for all you people with this race on your bucket list, here are my 2cents. Mind you, I'm from the midwest and only moved to elevation 3 months ago; also, I'm a road runner. The only other "trail" race I have done was a 5mile downhill run when I first moved here. It felt like 28 at the start, but planned to feel like 59 by the end so I knew I needed to pack light. Race started all up hill for 3 miles, and then downhill for another few. These downhill miles felt great, so I just let my body go with it. Enter the trails... first bit of trails were pretty open and easy compared to what was to come. I knew from researching the race that I had 15 miles mostly uphill and then the last half was "downhill," so I was just trying to make it to that point. Skipped the first few aid stations since I had gels and my Camelback. I about ate it 10x and had to flail my arms out wildly to keep balance, which would spike my HR each time, but I did NOT fall. The terrain was not as "flat" as people kept telling me. Jumping over cracks in the rock, jumping off boulders and having loose rock pieces roll your ankles is not flat to me. Stopped at the last 2 aid stations for water. The last half did NOT feel very downhill. I'm sure it's because I was tired by then, but I tripped a lot, and there was CAUTION painted here and there so as not to fall down the slick rock. Then, back to the trails we entered on.. 3 miles uphill... in sand. We all know running in sand sucks. Goal at this point: make it to the downhill finish. And I did, with muscle cramps under my ribs; I had to stop a few times and try to rub/stretch them out, but I could see the finish. Stopped toward the end to coax my daughter into joining my son and me to the finish line, which she obliged and was surprised they both didnt stop all the way to the finish chute. So proud of them and I was surprised at myself. I'm sore in places road races dont go; this recovery may be different but may be faster since it wasnt pounding pavement. Calves hurt, leg muscles up from my feet are sore, but not my back, like usual. Dont worry, I'll roll it out 😉 if I ever did this again, I would REALLY need to up my trail game!

#goaldigger #kvalitetsliv #lifedesign #yogamountainfestival #åre #totthummeln #fromwhereirun 📸 @fredriknygre

  • My whole grown up life I have had the idea that running would be great for me. I wanted to be one of those people who get up in the morning, go for a run and clear their heads before work, how lovely doesn’t it sound? Truthfully — I have never been that person. I always have to talk myself into getting my shoes on and to drag my bum out the door and there is a high possibility that the lazy part of me wins, way too often. If it gets better once I am doing it? Nope. I am bored every second of me running, counting the minutes until I am done. I have been trying and trying but never managed to get over the famous “hurdle” to love this. Let’s be honest, I would settle with liking it. So the question is, why do I do it? Why do I just not skip it completely and do something I like? Well, because it’s an easy way of excercising when there is no gym or class available. And oh, the feeling afterwards. The feeling of runners high. Am therefore calling out to all my running pro friends, I need your tips and tricks! How did you start to like it? How can I conquer this, currently oh so boring activity? Heeeelp! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #monday #ootd #girl #health #healthy #run #running #runners #runnershigh #lifestyle #healthychoices #healthylifestyle #training #workout #fitness #fitfam #support #help #photooftheday #instagood #instastyle #fashion #motivation #photography #runningmotivation #selflove #goals

  • 15 days 🏃🏻‍♀️ • • • 15 days since my last run and today was tough! I needed to do a 5K for the #wwrunners5k because today was the last day. I really hadn’t planned to run much more than that and truthfully when we finished the 5K I was exhausted! My legs hurt, my lungs hurt and I really felt like I couldn’t take another step but we were still over a mile from home so i had no choice but to get myself home. I was going to walk but then something changed and it all started to click. When we hit 4.3 I decided I only need .7 to get to 5 miles then all the sudden I missed my @fitbit buzzing at mile 5 and we were at 5.15 so we stretched it to my new longest run of 5.25! This past week I skipped three workouts (two TRX and one Spin class) because I couldn’t drag my booty out of bed 🤦🏻‍♀️ I also didn’t run once while on vacation so lesson learned. It hurts when you get back into the groove! 🏃🏻‍♀️ . . The next two weeks are a little crazy with travel for Thanksgiving and work but I have three runs planned (Thursday, Saturday and Friday), a TRX class, two Zumba classes, and two Jazzercise classes. For me the key is planning ahead and putting them on my calendar! How do you plan to stay active when you are busy or traveling?

  • Today’s run was a 10 mile progression. Started at 8:00 pace and worked down to 7:20. I’m pretty excited about this run because it was executed perfectly. Each split was either the exact same or slightly faster. I am happy I had enough left at mile 10 to pick it up to a 7:20 - and this was controlled, with gas still left in the tank 💪🏼 I’m also happy because I didn’t stop my watch at all. Sometimes I have to pause for traffic lights or to take a pic 😳 I really wanted to stop when I got to this pretty bridge near the beach but I was in mile 9 and I didn’t want to get any kind of break before kicking up the last mile. So this is the pic I got during my cooldown. Not as picturesque but oh well 🌴 ***************************************** Here are my splits 👉🏼 8:00, 7:58, 7:55, 7:55, 7:51, 7:51, 7:48, 7:44, 7:44, 7:20. With warmup and cooldown 11.64 total miles today 🍄 #instarunners #runner #runlikeagirl

  • Hit up the #cheltenham trail with @amyredpocket and @belugasan this morning for a snowy trail run.  I thought running on flat elevation was going to be easy, but with all this packed snow, it was a completely different ball game.  Glad to have this opportunity to work on some stabilization muscles.  Calves were definitely working extra hard for the entire 100mins but focusing on being in the moment made things a lot easier and eventually made it through. 😊🙌 . . 📷: @belugasan

  • "8 miles an hour, Junior, catch her!" ▪▪▪▪ 11/17: Rest day! ▪▪▪▪ 11/18: 10 miles on my parents' TM. ▪▪▪▪ My dad was telling his brother, Junior, over the phone that I was running on the TM [my family is amazed at my running ability.]. My uncle likes to hear about my running and my dad likes to brag about it, so dad shot this video of my run and sent it to Uncle Junior. My uncle replied and joked saying that he'd like to see it at 10 mph. Dad said that my uncle couldn't even fall down the stairs at 10 mph. 🤣 They're too much 💘 ▪▪▪▪ My run was amazing. I caught an intense runner's high and had to slow down because I was afraid I'd trip over myself or roll an ankle. Lol. Has anyone ever had a runner's high so intense?? ▪▪▪▪ Day 18 Gratitude Challenge: Something that fills me with hope that I'm grateful for is God, He is wonderful. ▪▪▪▪ Happy running! . . . . #happyrunner #treadmill #ultratraining #ultrarunner #runnershigh #sometimesiforgetimrunning #iloverunning #craycray #weprevail #teamprevail #family #familygoals

  • Holly Jolly 5k - 18:11. Another PB. A nice race after a month break from Chicago to see where I am now. I felt like I had more in the tank even still, but it was fantastic to run with @michelletherunner. I love that our goals have aligned for the next year. The push, hunger, and drive is what I feed off of. Excited to improve across the board like I have been under your guidance for the last 3 years. There's so much to learn about being a diabetic athlete and honestly there are no resources available regarding this... and being the type 1 guinea pig has been both hard and frustrating... but when I learn a new way to manage it, it can be euphoric. This was the closest I've come to a perfect diabetic race in awhile. And you as always played a role in that. • I almost deferred this race. It’s been a busy summer & fall with changes happening in all directions. I didn’t train like I wish I would have. 🤷🏼‍♀️ This weekend brought me so much joy- I’m so thankful I went for it anyways! I got so lucky and had four phenomenal friends put up with hours of mermaid selfies and conversations to distract from the discomfort that comes with a 13.1 mile journey. So incredibly thankful for these great people and all the other amazing team members that I celebrated with during and after the race! #piepush #trainjanda #teamretirement #harborhalf #mermaids #raceday #downtownnorfolk

  • Day two post marathon. That’s when you start to feel the difference between being prepared or unprepared for the race. Although I’m not sore as such, my whole body feels heavy and inflamed, my feet are burning and I get crazy night sweats . I’m not very hungry but forcing myself to eat piles of vegetables and a good quality protein (eggs and fish since I’m in Thailand) and drink lots of water. Staying away from alcohol, sugary foods and anything processed is essential in trying to get the inflammation down . I did 40min worth of ice bathing (on-off) straight after the race, have been moving my legs by walking and on a cross trainer, and stretching a lot to keep the blood flow going. And definitely getting a full body massage as well as a foot massage before getting on the flight back to Sydney . #marahon #marathontraining #recovery #amazingthailand #runningheroes @runningheroesaunz @thaiairways @jaybirdsport @tourismthailand #bangkok #bangkokmarathon2018 #thailand

  • It never fails. Why is it that the batteries for the fire alarms always go off during the night, when everyone is sleeping instead of 2pm in the afternoon? Amiiiright? The only upside to being woken up at the ass crack of dawn was that I used that time to get a long strength session in without feeling rushed. After surviving a trip to Ikea and managing to still be married, I had an easy paced 6 mile run. The true test of a marriage is surviving the maze through IKEA without losing a child or your mind. I also believe that anyone thinking about marriage needs to buy anything requiring assembly and build it together as a couple. If you can survive that experience, proceed to say “I do”, lol! Happy Sunday RunDay or Funday Friends!!

  • Does winter stress you out? Let’s talk about it. Below is an introduction to cortisol, but first, why we should stop giving winter the cold shoulder. —•——•——•——•——•——•— Winter is an invitation for play! Speed takes a backseat as trails are blanketed with piles of soft and slippery snow. Feet slide over packed trails or trudge through deep powder, all in prevention of serious training. These miles are best lived full of laughter and shared with friends with an expectation for slow progress. The bane of winter is simply a reminder to take it all a little less seriously. Don’t stress, this is a season of fun! - #nostresswinter #snowfunatall ——————————————— Cortisol is a glucocorticoid produced naturally in the body. It is synthesized in the cortex of the adrenal gland, has a role in glucose metabolism and has a steroid structure (GLUCOse-CORTex-sterOID). Glucocorticoids also have a role in inhibiting the immune system, notably inflammation and immune response. Have you ever had the common cold? The diurnal variance of cold symptoms is evidence of cortisol affecting your immune cells. Overnight, cortisol levels decrease which allows the body to ramp up a response to bacterial or viral infections. The elevated inflammation causes your nose to “run,” your fever to rise and your cough to worsen – these processes are the result of immune cells battling pathogens! In contrast, as cortisol levels rise with waking, the immune system is inhibited and the body’s disease-fighting processes slow down. Thus, your symptoms seem to get worse every night and improve during the day – your body purposefully suppresses your immune system to allow you to function. What else does cortisol do? What stimulates cortisol production? Follow along to learn more about cortisol than you probably ever wanted to!
