  • RUN TECHNIQUE . I’m not a runner. I’ve run a lot, but never been a runner. I’m now learning the technique (don’t criticize me too much @runrx 😳). Actually, used to always say that I thought running was bad for humans. . Turns out, I’m wrong and right. I’ll explain why.. . WRONG: We’ll start with a history lesson. Evolutionary biologists agree that the reason humans exist on this earth, not neanderthals, is because of the human ability to run long distance which neanderthal lacked. The neanderthals were bigger, faster, stronger, smarter and they developed tools much earlier than humans. However, their weapons were not accurate enough and they couldn’t sprint fast enough to catch animals. The earliest humans hunted via what’s called “persistence hunting” where they basically chased animals for miles and miles until the animal tired and they could go for the kill. We didn’t have to be faster than the animals, we just had to run farther. . RIGHT: Now, we’ve come to a time in the human story where a huge industry has figured out that dependence equals big profit. The cushioned shoe permits a different run pattern that causes harm at such a low intensity that people don’t attribute their injury to anything in particular, they just say “my body broke down”. Your body doesn’t just break down. You were built for this! When you don’t run correctly, your body suffers in more ways than you think. Even your nervous system is affected. .   • Posting this late because my little one was being dramatic this morning, but got my 2.5 mile run in this morning! I have to share a quote with you today. “You only ever grow as a human being if you’re outside your comfort zone.” I have to say, I am so far outside my comfort zone right now training for this half marathon. But I am already so darn proud of what I’ve accomplished so far and can’t wait to be able to say I DID IT!!!

  • • 8 years ago I decided to sell my car, give up my career and leave the comfort of one of the world’s warmest families (and countries for that matter), to move to the Netherlands. I got myself a bike, a job, (that I didn’t particularly love, but met a lot of incredibly cool people through) but then decided to move on to something more challenging. At my new job I found a home in one of the kindest and, by far, the most thoughtful people I’ve had the luxury of getting to know. She became my shoulder to cry on, my lawyer, my biggest supporter, the bad cop (in our bad/good cop situations), my sister, my mentor and my family, but above all, she became my home. You spend moments in your life trying to relate to people, relate to songs, relate to situations - all for the sake of connecting with people. To find that common ground, mutual understanding all in search of your soul sister, brother, partner and blah blah blah (you get my drift...). @tuyenduong became all that to me. And today she left the Netherlands to move on to more exciting adventures. But there’s a massive hole in my soul now. I know it’s not goodbye, but see you later kinda deal, but it sucks knowing she’s no longer a train & tram journey away. My advice to you is when you find your soul brethren, hug the living daylights out of them and never let them feel like they’re on their own. Because they aren’t. You’ve got their back and it’s important you never let them down. The country just got a shiteload darker. I’ll miss you like no other DuongBell. See you soon ♥️

We can establish that from 80 kg for a man and 65 kg for a woman, they fall into the category of runners requiring increased cushioning. O último passo e pronto, já estou no território de guerra, nesta hora me esqueço do mundo lá fora e foco no meu objetivo. Agora não existem contas para pagar, não existes crimes, depressão, doenças ou fome. Apenas o campo vasto para te devorar e o monstro que habita em mim pra me intimidar. Durante alguns minutos deixo me levar pela fortitude, ouço a sinfonia dos passos solavancando no chão, ele quer sair, afia as garras da raiva no asfalto, sinto o pulsar da adrenalina subindo pelas minhas veias. E ele escapa arrebentando as correntes da razão. Mais forte que o ácido lático, mais rígido e impenetrável do que uma rocha. Sou INSANO! LIVRE! as pessoas abrem passagem, eles não querem encarar uma besta solta em seu caminho. Esse é o combustível inflamável que o faz avançar. O tempo todo rasga o solo como uma aberração sem controle pelos simples fato de alçar aquela glória momentânea. E que glória... lá sinto a paz. Tudo para. Tudo faz sentido. Lá a besta se acalma. Não é nem pouco fácil controlar a besta titânica devoradora de asfalto. Mas aos poucos a drenalina baixa, os pulmões injetam oxigênio em seu estado normal, o coração bombeia aos padrões estabilizados. A desidratação cobra o seu preço e o demônio recua para a escuridão vasta da satisfação. O tempo foi batido, por segundos e lá do alto de meu trono pessoal, observo o sol se pondo lentamente finalizando o grande espetáculo do dia.
