  • I 100% understand that this won’t resonate with everyone, but as an artist I feel like the importance of working within the reality of my everyday life and brutal honesty around that are more important than staying upbeat on social media all the time. The reality is that due to the devastating CA fires, my home (Northern CA) currently has the worst air quality in the world (according to @sfchronicle ). But while the impacts of climate change sadden me, as an artist I sit in the unique position to draw beautiful attention to it. Everyone is wearing masks to step outside right now because the air hurts to breathe. It makes our eyes burn too. You see the masks at the store, on the sidewalk, the bus, or even the bank. In line with my upcycling ethos, I decided to take last year’s mask and turn it into something unique and political by covering it with muslin and embroidering it with sashiko thread. I changed out the elastic too. If you scroll through the pictures you’ll see that it reads, “Stop Climate Denial.” If the worstening of our air quality is something we have to look forward to as climate change continues to contribute to horrific natural disasters, I at least want to make my opinion known and also amplify the positive. The positive being that every stitch brought me clarity and peace of mind. That our world is worth fighting for. That people are worth fighting for. That I still haven’t given up on this planet yet and I hope you haven’t either 💙🌎🌍🌏💙

  • Today, I stood as one amongst thousands of activists to occupy five of London’s central bridges. We took this act of civil disobedience to bring the issue of climate change to the government, in order for them to take serious action now. More demonstrations will be happening over the coming weeks and months, so if you want to see or learn more, follow @extinctionrebellion

  • This is Father Martin Newell CP. When I was about 12, at Quaker Summer School, I heard him speak about taking direct action against nuclear weapons (taking a hammer to a nuclear warhead transportation van) & I still remember it so clearly. Today he put himself in harm's way doing a lock on for #ExtinctionRebellion at Blackfriars Bridge. A delight and an honour to see you again, Father. #StopClimateChange #FaithIntoAction #Catholic

  • Day 1 in Kathmandu - I’ve had an overload of information and culture shoved down my throat today. Learning about the Nepali people’s culture and Hinduism on our tour of the city today really opened my eyes to so much more. When I come back to America I will have an entirely different view of what life is. I already feel like I’m being cleansed and I still have two weeks left in Nepal. @microgalleries has us on a life changing mission.

  • Living ethically and sustainably is undoubtedly a privilege, and even for those who are in a position to be able to make more conscious decisions, for reasons out of our control, it isn’t always accessible to us. ⠀ ⠀ You may not be able to afford that new piece of clothing from the ethical store you admire, or find what you need … and instead ended up in the high street. You may have to buy food or drink wrapped in excess packaging because that’s all that was on offer, or buy vegetables that have been shipped half way across the world etc etc. or not be able to recycle the things you want to because there is nowhere local to do this. It’s important not to give yourself a hard time, after all, all of the responsibility should not be on us as the consumer. ⠀ ⠀ Whether or not we are in a position to use our purchasing power or make moves in our everyday lives to make change – we all have the power to USE OUR VOICE📢 and let the people in power who are responsible for this mess know that we are not ok with it and it’s time they started stepping up and doing something about climate change and the destruction we are causing to our planet. ⠀ ⠀ A massive shout out to everyone who's at the @extinctionrebellion Rebellion Day demo in London today occupying bridges and joining the march at Parliament Square! If you're in London head down and show your support! ✊ . . . #extinctionrebellion #climatechange #activism #sustainablefashion #sustainableliving #lowimpactmovement #ethicalfashion #brightonblogger #plasticfreeliving #climatechangeisreal #animalactivism #socialactivism #fashionactivism #stopclimatechange #fashionrevolution

  • 🇬🇧 Climate change affects our oceans, too. The water temperature rises constantly, fish, corals and sea birds die from the consequences. Sea levels are rising, causing high water and floods. There are so many reasons why we have to #stopclimatechange!

  • Thank you @nadjaromain for posting this beautiful inpiring clip. When the Ban creates the Buzz - Repost from @bellalack using - UK supermarket chain @IcelandFoods was the first to ban palm oil from its own-brand products. For their Christmas advert they planned to use this animated film originally created by @greenpeace and voiced by @emmathompsonofficial to boost global efforts against the deforestation caused by the production of palm oil products. Clearcast, which clears adverts for broadcast on the UK’s main commercial channels, ruled that the advert was in breach of the 2003 Communications Act — because it’s “directed towards a political end.” Unbelievable !! As rightly pointed by young environnement activist @bellalack "If saving our planet & protecting orangutans is considered a political issue, then we are in a dire state." We are in dire state and our responsibility as citizens is to act when those in charge to represent us fail to do so and choose lobbies against our future. The film has now gone viral on social media it is incredibly moving ! It shows how powerful is a story well told. The creative industry as so much to contribute in raising awareness and changing the way we live. Please share this film and sign the petition. Here is a link to ask Release Iceland’s banned Christmas advert on TV As of today the petition has over 900,000 signatures #NoPalmOilChristmas #takeaction @glblctzn #stopclimatechange #TheArtofClimateChange #climateart #racingextinction #instagood #MeldingArtandScience #ecoart #biodiversity #thereisnoplanetb #nopalmoil #indonesia #java #forest #savetheplanet #plantatree #wildlife #life 💚🌿🌏 🌴🍃 And
