  • - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Day 68/112 of #nycmarathon2018 Training: It’s getting darker earlier now when I leave work, so tonight’s tempo run was completed inside. I’m already anticipating lots of training runs on the #dreadmill this fall. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Happy Friday, friends! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1.5 mile warm up, 7 miles tempo @ GMP, 1.5 mile cool down = 10 miles tempo for the day! 🏃🏻‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • “If you set goals and go after them with all the determination you can muster, your gifts will take you places that amaze you”- Les Brown 🏃🏻‍♀️🍁👟🍂🏃🏻‍♀️🍁👟🍂🏃🏻‍♀️🍁👟🍂 Oh yeah!! Chasing goals with so much determination on this Monday!!! Tempo pace was planned for an 8:45-9:00 but OMG these fall temps couldn’t hold me back! I felt so good that my tempo pace ended up being 20-40 seconds faster 😱 (splits in stories 👆🏼) I just can’t believe how good I’m feeling just 2 weeks after Via Marathon! Usually after a marathon it takes me a couple of weeks to recover and even have the desire to run...this training cycle has been so unbelievable @run4prs 🙌🏼 And I know so much of it has to do with my recovery runs, keeping them so much slower than I ever did in the past. I will be using @hmf_events 1/2 marathon in 3 weeks as a speedy training run for NYC so it will be interesting to see how I feel that day as my training for the past 3 months has been marathon specific & that’s where my goal has been focused on. Staying grounded and maintaining my fitness level with hopes for hitting more goals @nycmarathon in 6 weeks!! I’m just so psyched for NYC I can’t contain my excitement! I wish it were here already!!! Raise your hand if you’re running NYC 🙋🏻‍♀️ #mondayrun #mondayrunday #determination #chasinggoals #nycmarathon2018 #tcsnycmarathontraining #tcsnycmarathon #marathongirl #marathontraining #run4prs #teamrun4prs #stilettorunning #runningshorts #runninggear #temporun #6milerun #goalsanddreams #inspiringwomenrunners #womensrunningcommunity #earnednotgiven

  • ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Day 71/112 of #nycmarathon2018 Training: My hair! It’s aliiiiive! 🤖 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s more like ME who feels alive and back to my normal self again this windy evening. 5 windy miles while listening to @lorepodcast tonight. 💀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been taking a break from turning on the tunes and instead listening to podcasts 🎙 on my runs. It’s an easy way to fit it into my schedule and cultivate my curiosity. While I wait for @serialpodcast’s new episode to release on Thursday, I’ve been listening to @lorepodcast nonstop. Perhaps I’m unconsciously preparing for the arrival of the spookiest month of the year? 🎃👻🦇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Late post: Day 71/112 #tcsnycmarathon training. (Photo from a few days ago}********************************* I was coming down with some kind of cold but I got it done, even though it was on a treadmill. I had not run on a treadmill in a while, so it felt like my legs were confused. I also developed a weird discomfort along the side of my left leg and ankle 🤷🏽‍♀️ Anyway, I am resting and “watching” that discomfort. Hope it goes away soon.

I am incredibly thankful for everyone who has donated/supported me. Most of all, I am excited to kick ass and never run more than 3 miles ever again in my life. • I often get asked about where I run! The trail is called the W&OD {Washington & Old Dominion} Trail. It’s a rails-to-trail - meaning that it was the old roadbed for the railroad 🚂 Often called the skinniest park in Virginia {It’s managed/taken care of by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority} it’s almost 45 miles long & goes from Shirlington to Purcellville. I live on the Leesburg section! In my early 20s I lived near the Reston section. I’ve run the length of the trail {not at all once - though I hope to do that one day!} and my completely not biased opinion is that the section from Leesburg to Purcellville is by far the prettiest section of the trail!! If you live locally and haven’t made it to that section - I highly recommend going for a long run or ride out here!!! 🍃🌿🍂🍁 Have you run on the trail? What’s your favorite section? #irunthisbody #nofilter @womensrunning

  • I was determined to be a little faster during this run than I was on Saturday. The chill in the air was the perfect motivator for me. This week I'm going to highlight some of the reasons why I'm running the #TCSNYCmarathon with @team_mr8 The Bridge Builder program gives young individuals the opportunity to take a leadership role in their community. Thirty $500 micro-grants are given out to qualified applicants who wish to engage their neighborhood with a project of their choice that works on increasing peace, justice, and kindness. Through youth engagement the Foundation strives to #ChooseKindness #BuildBridges #DoMore Donate to my crowdrise page here: bit.ly/2FYiGOp Be a part of the bridge building. #RunForMartin #TeamMR8 #marathontraining #firstmarathon #bostonrunners #Polar #RunWithUs

  • A life lesson from running - last week’s failure says nothing about today’s potential. | Last week I had the worst run of my life (think acute dehydration + almost heat stroke). It was such a scary experience that I’ve been dreading this run. In truth, I’ve been afraid of this run. In my mind, I knew I could do it, but fear is rarely rational. BUT I took a deep breath and got back on the horse.. in this case, the horse being my own two feet. | always remember that just because you couldn’t do something once doesn’t mean you’re not capable in the future. It just means you need to assess your weaknesses and work to improve them and always, always try again. 💙 (@dreamland banana pudding is also a good motivator 😘)

  • Took this gal for a workout ride today🚴🏼‍♀️ #crosstraining to be honest, I really don’t know how to bike besides the casual ride to work. I bought this bike 8 years ago thinking I would do triathlons, hasn’t happened yet.  I don’t have clip ons, padded biking shorts, and have no clue how to tell if I’m going a good speed (I just watched my heart rate). BUT!  It was amazing getting outside of the gym and onto some rolling hills. #marathontraining #sorta #optoutside #postivevibes #runninginjury #cycling

  • Slow disco #lescop ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Like the dangling legs of a marionette, we never quite know what life is going to ask of us. You left me at the bottom of the steps at the Madison train station to climb the stairs alone. I never thought I would have to push myself this hard to keep forging ahead, I never thought I would have the courage to have faith in what laid around winding corners, and, two years later, I never thought I would be hungry for more. Each step up has brought tears and laughter, regret and affirmation, exasperation and euphoria. Time has shown me not to focus on whether any of this was necessary, but rather, to appreciate how those who joined me along the way have helped make my memory of those stairs a stunning one. I can only hope that your journey, like for me, has also been a beautiful slow disco.

  • I don’t know what is going to happen during the #TCSNYCmarathon. I really don’t know what to expect. And I have no idea what I’m going to be capable of come race day on November 4th. Which is a little intimidating TBH but here’s what I do know— I feel really, really strong. And more importantly, pretty healthy. I don’t want to jinx myself (and I’m on a plane that doesn’t have any wood to knock on...) but my 18-mile long run this weekend felt strong AF. That sense of ease I pray for was with me almost the entire time (I’m 77% positive that @maurten_official magic gel had something to do with it. That and all the strength work I’ve been doing with @finishlinept & #ProjectMoonshot) and after I finished, I felt a huge weight lift off of my shoulders. Training for these endurance races is so damn hard y’all. It’s hard on your body. It’s hard on your social life. And I think we can all agree that it can put you in some pretty tough head spaces. But those moments when you lock into the zone and feel unstoppable make every single tough day and bad run all worth it. They’re magic. Running is all about delayed gratification and sometimes, even after weeks of showing up and kicking your ass, it can feel like you’re never going to get stronger. But you are. If you ever feel yourself doubting your strength or whether you can make your impossible possible, just remember that today is always the day. All you have is what you can do right now. Keep fighting to put your strongest foot forward. Trust the process. Trust yourself and what you’re capable of if you keep fighting. 40 days until the #NYCMarathon. Every single day counts. Today is the day. Today is the day. Today is the day. #SheCanAndSheDid🤘🏽 #JustDoIt #SportsBraSquad #TeamNike 📸 @zhetrick
