  • NOTE TO YESTERDAY’S POST: “BULKING” + “CUTTING”💪 Adding a few points to my post yesterday when I spoke about gaining weight to gain muscle bc I’ve been bombed with Qs (mostly from gals) about whether they should be “bulking” and “cutting”. I can’t answer this properly in a caption so will make a vid in time but in summary NO, I don’t think this is something everyone should do if the goal is to improve body composition. This stuff always depends and where you are starting from is key. If you are overweight, carrying excess body fat (“skinny fat”) or insulin resistant (as most people are, particularly if eating a standard western diet and living a sedentary lifestyle) for example, IMO you should look to get leaner before doing anything else - this primes your body for muscle gain from a physiological/hormonal perspective (NOT physique competitor lean - that’s something else - in fact, my recommendation is to STOP comparing yourself to physique competitors full stop if you are not involved in the sport). And now a few things to note about my own weight gain, to put it in context: 1. I started very lean - see what I said above - I was primed to gain muscle. In particular, I was extremely insulin sensitive. 2. We increased my weight and calories gradually to make sure I didn’t gain too much body fat. By “normal” standards I was at a perfectly healthy body fat level throughout my off season and always looked athletic (I kept a good degree of muscular definition). I probably gained a few pounds too much at the end by going off track on vacation and eating too many treats. That was my fault and wasn’t part of the plan. No regrets, but helpful info. 3. I was lifting very heavy throughout the weight gaining phase to maximize my chances of gaining muscle. Like heavier and harder than most people know how to. Not showing off, but it’s true. I also kept hard cardio in six days a week. 4. We monitored my blood work, focusing on insulin sensitivity and inflammation markers. It stayed excellent: very insulin sensitive and no inflammation. Had we seen either of these change we would have pulled back. Tank: @ironrebel 👊 Use my code VictoriaL10 and link in bio 🙌

  • Sashie has trained with me for every ultra marathon I’ve ever done. She’s ran in the woods with me for 5 hours, on the trails for 30 miles and she runs with me for my 3 mile jaunts. Never complains, always ready to go and one of the best running partners ever. #adoptdontshop #runwithyourdog #stopbreeddiscrimination

  • I am so proud of clients who competed today in a local race. Becky came 1st in the WOMENS race. Tom came 4th in 10-13 years boys category with incredibly fast time. Ange has a fantastic race finishing 4km in just 25 mins. So so proud of all of them. When you are dedicated and put the work in you will always get what you deserve.
