  • "...och bäst på matteprovet var Petra!" En suck hördes från resten av klassen. "Hon är ju alltid bäst, så jäkla tröttsamt!" sa någon och de andra garvade. Jag sjönk ihop i skolbänken och ville vara osynlig. Det här var på högstadiet, året var 1990. Jag var klassens pluggis som spikade alla proven, hade töntiga kläder, flaskbottnar till glasögon och ingen pojkvän. . Grät inombords för att jag kände mig trist och ful. Hade hellre varit sämst på proven och istället haft kille. Tänkte jag DÅ. Nu är det fasen jag som tar revansch! Jag frossar i snygga kläder med högsta möjliga glamfaktor, även när det kommer till träningskläder. När jag ser mig själv i spegeln ser jag en levnadsglad, smart tjej som är glad över att hon pluggade som en tok i skolan. Kunskap kan man aldrig ha för mycket...och inte löparskor eller heels heller... 🙏🏻👠 . Hey, man KAN faktiskt vara både smart OCH snygg - inser jag nu. Pojkvänner (eller flickvänner om man hellre vill ha det) är det heller ingen brådska med, man hinner med det där också... Eller vad säger du..? 💋 . .. . Back in school, I was definitely the nerd of the class. I always had the highest score on the tests, which the teachers announced loud and clear. I hated that, I hated the fact that I was a nerd, with thick glasses, ugly clothes and no boyfriend... . Today, I've had my revenge! When I look in the mirror, I see a smart, beautiful woman who lives life and is happy that she studied hard in school. I mean that you can never possess too much knowledge... And you can't have too many running shoes or heels either! 🙏🏻👠 . Hey, you CAN actually be smart AND look great. I realize that now. And boyfriends (or girlfriends)...there's a time for that, too...   • 2018 has been an amazing Marathon year! 🏃🏼‍♀️🎉💛💙🦄 3 marathons, 2 PRs, 2 Boston Qualifiers (for 2019 & 2020) 1 New York City Marathon, (qualified in June, ran in November) and one happy girl that has worked her tail off for these goals! I didn’t PR New York and had no time goal in mind but used it as a victory lap and loved every minute! If you couldn’t tell from the photos I posted, 😁 I had the best time and couldn’t stop smiling! The course was more challenging then Phx or STG so I’m happy with my performance and loved every moment of that race! It was such a celebration for me personally! I think it’s good to recognize our accomplishments from time to time and applaud our efforts and celebrate goals achieved, big or small. It’s ok to be proud of yourself and look how far you’ve come! My first marathon was a 4:35 and now I’m a 3:21 marathon runner. 🏃🏼‍♀️ I never thought I would run that fast ever or have 4 BQs under my belt now. 💛💙🦄 It took a lot of hard work, 9+ years of running and 18 marathons but I did it! but So never give up and keep going! My next goal and dream is a 3:15 marathon, and I can’t wait to run Boston in April! 🎉 #MarathonMotivation #Marathons #BostonMarathon #StGeorgeMarathon #NewYorkMarathon #PhxMarathon

Und dann kam der „Rettungsanker“, die Anfrage von @earebel. Und nicht nur Blabla, wie toll ihre Kopfhörer sind und dass das bestimmt interessant für unsere Follower ist (sowas kann ich gar nicht leiden, ich will wissen, warum das für MICH interessant ist!), SONDERN sie haben sich vorher (neben der Zahl oben im Profil) auch mit UNS beschäftigt: „Da ich auf euren Bildern gesehen habe, dass ihr auch ab und zu Stirnbänder tragt und bestimmt auch gerne Musik beim Sport hört, wären die Earebels genau das richtige für Euch.“ STIMMT! Ich fand das ne coole Idee und wollte es deshalb mal ausprobieren. (Noch besser finde ich ehrlich gesagt, dass es auch Strickmützen gibt, die muss ich nämlich nicht nach jedem Einsatz waschen. 🙊) Für alle, die gar nicht so gerne Musik beim Sport hören, aber sich gerne mit Geschichten vollblubbern lassen: Unsere Homies @runskills haben seit neuestem einen eigenen Podcast, da kann man ruhig mal reinhören! 🎧 Und aus Gründen der Interaktion darf jetzt jeder noch Podcast-, Hörbuch- oder Musik-Empfehlungen kommentieren. 😇 @isatrice #earebel #music #podcast #running #runninggirl #runshots #wearetherunners #wearerunninggirls #inspiringwomenrunners #headphones #earphones #musicwasmyfirstlove

Been toying with the idea of PTL or the shorter CCC race. Got a month to decide, anyone fancy teaming up for PTL, drop me a 📝 . A month into off-season.   • "...I give you the light of Earendil our most beloved star. May it be a light to you in dark places when all other lights go out..." Lord of the Rings. I have a new light of Earendil thanks to my lovely hubster 🔦 - I love it 😍 but bloody hell it's so bright - I reckon I could use it to stop ships crashing on rocks or maybe guide in airplanes for landing! 😂 So... what a difference 48 hours makes 🤩 - Monday I began to have thoughts of whether I should consider retiring running. My asthma seems to impact my running more and it's beginning to mess with my head and confidence - I don't want running will be a negative experience because it has help me through so much. 😞 But then last night happened - my breathing was more relaxed, I had energy and I was running with purpose! I can't expressed how happy this has made me - I'm proud of the Melanie who turned up last night! 🏃‍♀️🙌 Ran 4.5 miles and finished off Thursday with 20 mins = Elipse machine + 45 mins = Weights (and that's improving nicely too!) 😁 Feel Good Inc Brings You Run Happy (and running is also the light of Earendil in my life - I hope it continues to burn brightly... ☺) 😉

  • Number 1 Rule of Running: Listen to your body!! I work in #highperformancecomputing. Sometimes computers get in a funk and just need to get rebooted. My training was in a funk and in dire need of a reboot. Over the past year and a half I kept trying to jump back into the same training regiment but my physical fitness wasn't there. I would hit the ground running (literally) for a few weeks and then my back would start hurting again. Take a few days easy and and hit it hard again. I would run 30 miles one week and drop 70 the next. As a runner its hard to realize, accept rather that we are not always at same fitness level we once were. We keep lacing up, dropping the miles and dont take the time to evaluate our physical fitness. Are we getting stronger, faster or simply at a stand still. Our training should be adjusted accordingly so we can gradually improve. All athletes have an off season but for us runners we don't have that mindset. As soon as we cross the finish line we are eagerly awaiting the next race. On my 8th week of my new training cycle and my overall physical fitness is on the rise. I went from running 100 mile weeks to gradually building up to 50. Its taken a lot of patience but the reboot has done wonders.
