So I don't think I've ever done a formal introduction before and since some of you are new to my page I thought I'd say hi and share some facts about myself. And I hope you'll all introduce yourselves too cuz there's nothing I love more than meeting new people. I'm Beatie Deutsch and I currently live in Jerusalem, Israel. This is probably the only glam picture you'll ever see because I live in running clothes. I'm a mom of 5 and passionate about running, Judaism and living my life to the fullest ❤️. In my day job, I'm the director of follow up for @olami_global and I love connecting Jewish students to opportunities and programs in North America! In my spare time 😜, I'm a marathon runner and my claim to fame is running the TLV marathon 7 months pregnant🤰 and winning the Jerusalem marathon (fastest Israeli woman)... Some people confuse the story and I think I did both at the same time 🤣🤣. When I started training for my first marathon three years ago, I hadn't exercised in six years (unless you count giving birth to four babies 😂). I had no expectations other than crossing the finish line but in 4 months of training I completely surprised myself and finished in 3:27. Since then, I've been running consistently and am so grateful to have it in my life! I'm currently training for my 4th marathon, hope to sub 3 and have big goals ahead of me.... (Not quite ready to go public about those yet but stay tuned). As much as I train and race competitively, I strive for balance and am a mother and wife first 👨👩👦👦. My mission with this page is to inspire and empower other women through exercise while showing that you can do it modestly. I want to create a community of people who encourage each other along the journey and share in each other's successes, support each other through the ups and downs of training and real life! Nothing makes me happier than hearing about your running and fitness goals, so please share here and feel free to DM me. If there's anything I've learned from running, the real marathon is the one we run each day of our life 😍 And one fun fact just because - I have a black belt in tae Kwon do and a real phobia of pickles. Now it's your turn 👇
Thoughts that have floated through the head of this little marathon runner, forced into the taper a week early.
•I haven’t run enough. I haven’t done enough. I am not ready.
•I don’t trust my training. I should feel more mentally prepared. I am not there. I wish I were.
•If I had gotten in that one last 18 mile long run, would I feel more ready?
•I wonder if the marathon will get cancelled due to the fires. Maybe I will consider not running the marathon due to the fires and start my vacation a day earlier by skipping running 26.2 miles and find a marathon in January instead.
•If I don’t run a marathon the day before I go on vacation, what excuse will I have to eat ice cream every night?
•If I do choose and get to run the marathon, how will I do? How will being this far behind affect me? Am I in better shape than I give myself credit for?
•If my turkey trot next week gets cancelled, do you think Melissa will still come have brunch with me after?
•A life without the thing you love feels dull. It feels like my days have been nothing but spreadsheets and obsessively checking the air quality.
•Having my hand forced at practicing patience and self care is not easy. The plus side is that I’ve been reading and getting in some administrative work for one of the races I ambassador for. I will find the silver lining.
•I can’t let this carb loading go to waste. Maybe I had better go to Zumba or something
•How much do I workout since I can’t run? Now isn’t the time to try something new because I don’t wanna injure myself in case 26.2 does happen in just two and a half weeks, but how do I gauge what to do and where I’m at.
•I still hate the treadmill
•Do you think Mr. FtoF will want to get frozen yogurt tonight...
•I have a home, a family and a supportive network of friends. For that I am grateful.
•Hold on little Vanessa. You can get through this.
Today was fun being on the other side of packet pickup. Usually I’m doing the picking up of a packet and today I was helping @mind.over.matter.athlete to hand out the packets and I loved it! I wish I could have stayed even longer. I could listen to running talk all day long! Saturday is going to be fun and it’s not too late to sign up!
I ran 2 little miles this morning and my foot kinda hated that I did. So, yeah, this continues to be the most confusing injury ever. That means running Saturday is prob not happening, but I’ll be out there and I’ll make sure the beer is good before y’all get finished with your run! 🍻😂 Hope you can join us to #sweatoutthedoubt and raise money for @team_catapult 👊🏻
Run if you can, when you can, for as long as you can 😀
#Throwback to running outdoors in beautiful weather. I can’t believe this pic was taken last month!😱 So much has changed since then. My bump 🤰🏾is waay bigger, it’s 28 degrees, almost all the leaves have fallen off the trees and we’re currently experiencing a little snow storm 😬
I’m so glad I decided to get up at 7:15am to get my treadmill run and weight session done (see my stories). Gotta do it when I can for as long as long as I can 👊🏾
Tomorrow’s commute is expected to be super messy 😩 so I think I’ll be working out at home doing pilates, yoga and mobility exercises. //
What’s the weather like in your town? What workouts are you doing or planning on doing? Share!

I DON’T LET FEAR GET IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT AND TELL ME WHERE I’M GOING
I wrote those words earlier this year- and reading them again tonight reminded me how true they were & how I need to take back control.😌I mentioned on here yesterday that I had a sore throat again yesterday- probably the millionth time since I got sick right before the Seawheeze half (Sept 21).🙄Well, after I posted last night, my head got super congested and headachey- and sore throat got worse. And honestly, it’s been just a longggg 7 weeks of being sick and then getting a bit better and then getting sick again. My immune system just can’t quite find it’s footing while doing these tough marathon workouts. I was SO frustrated last night. Like do I have to stop running entirely just to get my body to stop feeling so rundown? I skipped the workout I had planned because that’s counterproductive at this point. Anyways- it’s all going to be ok. I truly believe that. This cycle has been far from ideal- but I’m just going to trust God that all my hard work is going to pay off. I worked from bed today (haha) & I’m just going to try to let my body have the space it needs to heal.
👉🏽Here’s your daily reminder that YOU are in control of your emotions. You are in control of your fate. And you don’t need to let fear get in the driver’s seat of your life and determine where you’re going. YOU DO. Get back in the driver’s seat, have faith, and know things are going to work out.❤️
👉🏽Remember- your body responds to positivity. Don’t let the negativity crowd your headspace and restrict its potential to heal 😌
💜Everyday I am optimistic about my future.
💙I don’t let fear get in the drivers seat and tell me where I’m going.
💚I put fear in its place and counter it with my reality and the truth I’m bringing into existence.
🧡I truly believe the master of the universe is at work in my life & working to bring it together behind the scenes.
💛Life really is rigged in my favor. I am the house and the house always wins.

BREATHE🧘🏽♀️ never underestimate the power of breathing... breathing gives you time to change your relationship with your thoughts/feelings and change your perspective💭 most people believe that the key to mindfulness is having the ability to carelessly bat way any thoughts that are unsettling but this can feel very overwhelming and have a negative affect on our minds... by taking the time just to breathe, it gives your mind space allowing you to change your perspective... perspective is key🔑 “Learn how to exhale and the inhale will take care of itself”💬 #FridayFeelings
"...I give you the light of Earendil our most beloved star. May it be a light to you in dark places when all other lights go out..." Lord of the Rings.
I have a new light of Earendil thanks to my lovely hubster 🔦 - I love it 😍 but bloody hell it's so bright - I reckon I could use it to stop ships crashing on rocks or maybe guide in airplanes for landing! 😂
So... what a difference 48 hours makes 🤩 - Monday I began to have thoughts of whether I should consider retiring running. My asthma seems to impact my running more and it's beginning to mess with my head and confidence - I don't want running will be a negative experience because it has help me through so much. 😞
But then last night happened - my breathing was more relaxed, I had energy and I was running with purpose! I can't expressed how happy this has made me - I'm proud of the Melanie who turned up last night! 🏃♀️🙌
Ran 4.5 miles and finished off Thursday with 20 mins = Elipse machine + 45 mins = Weights (and that's improving nicely too!) 😁
Feel Good Inc Brings You Run Happy (and running is also the light of Earendil in my life - I hope it continues to burn brightly... ☺) 😉
All smiles after crossing the finish line. 10k done and dusted. All credits goes to @mjd_smith , the marathon boss running 30 marathons in 30 days. And so proud of my girls too @email@example.com@ynnej95 . 🙌🏾💖

Stairway to Heaven ?🤔 Let’s say so...
And so, for just a moment the sky lights up as if it's been painted with striking strokes of sunset, then slowly disappears. It's in this moment that taking the run all the way up here makes the burning legs worthwhile.

Happy weekend. Its Friday.
BBQ feast post tempo-run today. Yes!! Baby Bella’s hand making a cameo 😂💚

Since I started training again (last Tuesday), I’ve been pushing myself like I never have. There are times during my runs where I feel like I’m about to throw up because I’m pushing myself to go farther and faster than I have been. It never happens, though. Why? I’m taking care of myself. I feel that way because I’m digging deep for the mental and physical strength to continue. After every run, I feel incredibly accomplished and happy because of the work I put in.

I ran and it wasn’t a race! a little back pain but not bad, and I foam rolled after. I’ve been to PT twice now, that’s going really well. and she was super understanding about the half coming up, I’m just supposed to do my exercises before I run and then take it easy after the race. three weeks left of school!!!
Did you make good use of today?? If the sweat on my shirt could answer for me, it was say: YES!! A 12 hour work day for me today followed by a 7.5 mile tempo run. Normally after such a long day at work I would be tired and ready for bed, but sometimes when you end your day with something you love, it helps you get that extra spring back in your step! Now that extra spring is still stepping me straight to bed, but that means I'm one step closer to Friday!! I hope everyone had a great day and has an even better tomorrow!

The Deborah Conference was BRILLIANT thanks to these beautiful ladies x
So lucky to experience an event with so many people sharing their incredible stories and their special business tips.
Women conferences are super practical and very relevant. Yes!! Another win ladies.
Get along to the next one 💃💯
When your physical therapist has been talking to you about moderation, you resist walking a 5K and stop at the 3 mile mark. 😂😂 Seriously though, I’m working through this recent flare up with my hamstring, and with so much running coming up in the next several months, I’m learning to embrace that a step back will help me go so many more miles forward when the time comes. 👟👟.
Off season is over! First night back with the USC Trojan Masters Track Club. We are actually all ages, and I was chasing this little girl all night! She is too fast, and her mental game was on point. Can a 10-year old be intimidating? ‘Cuz she was. Lol. Hope everyone had a great training day! 🏃🏾♀️🌱 #run#vegan#trackandfield#masterstrack#beatyesterday#igrunners#runhappy

6 easy miles is the perfect way to cap off a busy day in my opinion 🏃🏻♀️💕. Taper legs have definitely set in to where every run I go on feels so. dang. hard 😵. But, that’s how I know it’s working!! Your body undergoes a lot, and I mean a lot, of stress during marathon training. The point of the taper is so that your muscles can recover and soak up all those 20+ milers so you can bust out that PR come race day👌🏼. Make sure you’re speeding up the process with some good stretching, foam rolling, and proper nutrition and you have yourself a recipe for success!

5 easy treadmill miles today! due to the snow, my last class at 3:30 was cancelled today so i decided to take the opportunity to go to the gym and do a quick run and ab workout! it felt great but when i had to walk to the dining hall then back to my dorm in the snow with only running sneakers, capri leggings , and a sweatshirt , it was not fun. i’m definitely glad i was able to get in this run!

I don’t talk much about my profession on here, mainly because fitness is the focus of this account, but man... I am so lucky that I get to do what I love, and keep learning more about it, every single day. I am an educator, and have been for 6+ years now. I’ve been an elementary teacher for 3 different grade levels, and now I’m a training coordinator/coach in the admin realm—and almost finished with my master’s in educational leadership. To say I love what I do, and continuously learning about what early childhood education is, is an understatement. I truly picked the right profession. ❤️ I am also excited to see @joyhofmeister present at the #naeycac tomorrow! 🎉

Little things make big things happen.
I was a little nervous to do this workout in the late afternoon at the end of a workday since I’m used to running in the morning on freshness. The warm up felt like death but once we rolled in to those ‘moderately paced’ miles they just kept coming. Grateful for a running partner like @ironmantejada to keep me on pace while still being able to hold a conversation!😜
I’m feeling pretty good about how my body is responding to higher mileage and I’m loving my workouts...all targeted to a specific purpose be it speed/strength, recovery, or endurance.
Tomorrow is a rest day and I plan to take full advantage!

Do you rws? Run while sick? I have had the nastiest chest cold for like a week that feels aaaaaaaaalmost like the flu, but it's not. So you know how it feels after a day off--you just want to get miles in! Because of the air quality, I've done most miles this week on the #dreadmill even with my diffuser and healthshield one time! but today I went out on the coast and it was fing cold 🌬️ and my gloves which are very fancy name brand were useless! I couldn't feel my fingers at all. Anyway the moral of the story is that I still feel like 💩 but tomorrow is another day, and the last day before vacation for this #highschoolenglishteacher .
Thanks for carrying me hundreds of miles these past few months. Whether super slow or super fast, there are lots of miles behind us and lots ahead. Can’t wait to see what you can do in your first marathon this weekend. Next time we’re back here you’ll be marathoner legs ☺️ Love,
