  • When your race photo turns out that good, you fork over the money for it. ๐Ÿ˜† This was around mile 11.5 of my half marathon last weekend. I had been feeling done with the race for about 2 miles, but I had made it my goal to not let it show. I was hurting and tired, but there's a smile on my face, and it's hard to smile and think bad thoughts at the same time. It definitely helped me forget my troubles for a minute or two.

  • โ€œEmbrace and love your body. Itโ€™s the most amazing thing youโ€™ll ever own.โ€ . It really is amazing what the human body can do. I loved being able to run throughout my whole pregnancy and being able to run a half marathon at 8 months pregnant. It definitely wasnโ€™t easy, but running is what I love and it made me feel strong while I was pregnant with Zander. . If you had asked me 8 months ago if I would be able to run a marathon in 3:23 and qualify for Boston I donโ€™t know what my answer would be. It was tough getting back into shape after having my second baby, but Iโ€™m so glad I worked so hard. Iโ€™m amazed and proud of what my body could do all while breastfeeding my son, taking care of two kids, working, etc. . This postpartum running journey is still tough at times, but looking at how far Iโ€™ve come definitely makes it worth it. Iโ€™m going to continue to work hard and try to get back to my pre-baby PRs.

I was able to get in 30 cycling miles this morning on Zwift, and then ran 4 treadmill miles at the gym... because running with friends is just more fun!๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

  • (hereโ€™s an old photo since i donโ€™t have one from today!) but i went on a CRAZY, to say the least, trail run with the running club. the trail ended up being a hiking trail and we were going up crazy steep hills with huge rocks and roots everywhere! it was absolutely insane, but a lot of fun and it was a workout for sure! the only bad part - the part of the group further ahead of us disturbed a bees nest, meaning we all got stung. i got stung on the back of my leg and it hurts so bad but itโ€™s fine ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ - my gps on my phone wasnโ€™t working since we were in the middle of the woods but another girl in the club said we went 2 miles. the hardest 2 miles of my life!

  • Met my mileage goal this week to get into the 20s (up from 17ish last week) + 3 strength workouts (2 performance and 1 precision) + PT this week. Today was a 6 mile long run (4 with the stroller - have I mentioned my neighborhood is hilly?!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ - and 2 solo) + the Compound A workout from Running Rewired (circuits of heavy freaking lifting plus jumping, so much jumping). Feeling SO strong. The easy days are getting easier and the weights are increasing during strength workouts. Iโ€™m really finding my groove! My plan for the next couple months is 10% increases in weekly mileage and sticking with those 2 performance + 1 precision workouts per week.

  • Running for maintenance and the simple L O V E of it and embracing the day (vs running due to official training and following an official plan) is such a nice break from the โ€œpressureโ€ of trying to hit paces, monitoring heart rate, getting in a certain number of miles, etc. when โ€œtrainingโ€. Until itโ€™s time for me to officially start training again (for Boston), Iโ€™ve been simply going out and having fun with my runs, sometimes with friends, sometimes helping some of my runners on THEIR runs, and sometimes running solo, as was the case today. Today, after a rough week, and not enough sleep last night, I truly struggled (for about an hour ๐Ÿ™„) with the thought of lacing up and getting out the door, vs staying in bed! I know many of you can relate! That said, as much as I know I did not โ€œHAVEโ€ to get out and run because Iโ€™m not #training for anything, the one thought that always gets me out is this: โ€œTHERE WILL COME A DAY YOU CAN NO LONGER DO THIS....TODAY IS NOT THAT DAYโ€! May we all recognize and embrace the gift of each day. I say it all the time.....every day is a gift โฃ๏ธ ~ ~ ~ 10 prayerful solo reflecting miles for breakfast, not looking at watch for pace or HR at all (other than when the lap split would beep and show me the pace I had just ran for that mile). I simply ran by effort, going with how I felt, ensuring I could finish strong...... and I loved every minute of it! ๐Ÿ˜Š ~ ~ To the runnergirl who yelled at me this morning with a lovely smile โ€œI follow you on Instagramโ€, again, THANK YOU! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Please DM me. Iโ€™m glad I wasnโ€™t trying to PR today, because it wouldโ€™ve been TOUGH! ๐ŸŒงโ˜”๏ธ I ran with my friend Caitlyn who literally just had a baby you guys, and hasnโ€™t ran a half marathon in 3 years! She killed it, didnโ€™t walk once, and we had a blast. This was my 3rd Seawheeze and I never get tired of it. This city is so beautiful, the people are so nice and supportive, and Lululemon just gets how to do things right. . If Seawheeze is on your bucket list, next year is the year! You have to do it. Iโ€™ll be here every year, as long as they let me in. #seawheeze2018

  • 3 miles with some pick ups thrown in to tune up my legs for tomorrowโ€™s race. It was raining pretty steadily, and i was the only one out in the neighborhood. Either Iโ€™m the Village Idiot or just super dedicated...maybe both? ๐Ÿ˜œ Oh well! Running in the rain is so refreshing and it always makes me feel tough. The only other living thing running around with me was a huge coyote! He stopped and looked at me, and i responded by screaming at him to go away. The look he gave me was the EXACT look my dog gives me when he gets in trouble, which was hilarious and almost adorable, but then i remembered itโ€™s a wild animal so i ran about a 6 minute pace as far away from it as I could. ๐Ÿ˜… the tune up went well, but little did I know then that as soon as I got home the race would be CANCELLED because North Texas is basically under water.   • Uh, so about this 5K. It was a free race. It started raining right before the start and completely storming during mile 2. I was scared to death of lightning that was all around. It only measured 2.96 miles. My pace was 7:57. Thatโ€™s a slower pace than I have run 4 5Ks in the last 1.5 years. My new shoes are muddy. My foot hurts bad. I should not have run. I had positive splits. I feel discouraged and disappointed. I canโ€™t find official results anywhere, not that they matter, but they are still fun to look at. Again, it was free. . As smart as I was last week playing it safe, Iโ€™m right back to where I started as far as pain goes. It was a weak moment, I was hopeful it would all be fine when I started running. It wasnโ€™t fine, but I didnโ€™t stop. It wasnโ€™t my smartest day and it set me back further. Itโ€™s back to the cross training life and my focus is shifting from the half marathon goals I had for this fall to getting healed up in time to crush Houston in January. I think today will wrap up my September miles and thatโ€™s hard to accept. Thinking long term though, it will be for the best. . Running is not all sunshine and rainbows, but damn I love running and I will be back. Until then, youโ€™ll find me rowing, biking and hitting the weights. . Sorry for this Debbie downer post, but yโ€™all know I keep it real and today has been a rough day. Thank you all for the support through this. ๐Ÿ˜˜

  • 18 miles @ 9:14 pace. You can see my exhaustion in my face. ๐Ÿ˜‚ This one was TOUGH. It took almost six miles before I felt like I wasnโ€™t dragging two dead weights along under me. I started out on a rail trail but realized I needed more distraction- I couldnโ€™t get out my head, thinking about how hard it was to keep going- so I threw on a podcast and moved to the main road where there were things to look at. Finally around mile 9 I felt like I was getting into my flow and could pick up the pace. Looking forward to doing nothing for the rest of the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜ด

  • Sh*t happens. My last training ride I had a freak accident and wrecked. I was unconscious until EMS got me, but thankful a person found me in the road and called for help. I have a distal clavicle fracture, concussion, and plenty of road rash. Lining up for IMCHOO next week seems unlikely, but weโ€™ll see. Iโ€™m honestly grateful my injuries arenโ€™t worse, that my helmet did its job (it is destroyed), and for all the love and support Iโ€™ve already received. Iโ€™ll be back at it in no time! Be safe out there friends!

  • 17 miles! 2 easy on the treadmill then did the #happygirlshalfmarathon TRAIL RUN then rushed home to do 2 more on the treadmill so the hubs and oldest could go watch the #ewufootball game! Now...the race report for those interested. Iโ€™ve never done this race. Did not really realize that this was a full on trail run. Like over logs and boulders in some areas! Every...muscle...hurt. All those stabilizer muscles you forget you had...they made themselves known and they were not happy! Ha. My goal was to beat my Wandermere half time of 2:20 back in May(which is a net downhill road race)! I thought it would be no problem but then I realized how sketchy the terrain was at times so I had to dig deep...like real deep (thatโ€™s what she said. Ha!). I pulled a 2:17 with mile 12, which was on an actual paved trail, was 9:22!!!! Hell ya! Now..I was sooo close to breaking 2 hours before baby but this is a huge win given the terrain! Nutrition was spot on with my new #infinitnutrition run blend. Just had coffee with cream before, then mile 4 started with the infinite and it worked beautifully! Iโ€™ve been low carb for a while and this has sugar but it does the job and I could feel it! I forgot how much I love trail running!!! Ps..to the lady who was in front of me near mile 2...when on a single track trail with a drop off to one side and a hillside on the other and all of us are nuts to butts...you cannot stop suddenly to grab your phone and take a selfie. You are lucky that when I fell into you...you didnโ€™t fall down and into the river!!!   • Wanted to get one last hill workout in before the marathon since the last 6 miles are โฌ†๏ธ๐Ÿ”! Def need these next couple of weeks to let my legs heal, but Iโ€™m so impressed with where my fitness is at right now. Iโ€™m so happy Iโ€™ve listened to my body and mind this cycle instead of worrying about how good my splits will look in an Instagram post. Thereโ€™s a lot of noise that comes with sharing on social media but itโ€™s important to remember Instagram posts donโ€™t get you to a finish line, YOU do.

  • Iโ€™m back from vacation yโ€™all and ready to hit the ground running again!! I have 12 miles scheduled for tomorrow and I havenโ€™t run since last Friday! Iโ€™ve never taken a week off during marathon training especially so close to race day! Iโ€™m a little nervous but 2 things Iโ€™m trying to remind myself of: 1) I am well trained and totally ready to rock race day in 2 short weeks!!!! 2) even though I didnโ€™t run all week my vacation included at least 5 miles of walking every day so I kept my legs moving Stay tuned for a running update tomorrow! Also-I miss Disney already...but now itโ€™s time to plan my adult trip with this man! Thatโ€™s how we roll...one trip for the kids, one trip for us! I think thatโ€™s more than fair ๐Ÿคฃ. To quote a guy on one of the hills: โ€œWelcome to Camp Pendleton, darlinโ€™!โ€ ๐Ÿคฃ This one is actually worthy of a full recap so stay tuned for that. . For now, hereโ€™s the stats! ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ500M ocean swim - 14:06 (including beach run up to T1) - swam an extra 180 meters ๐Ÿ™ˆ but hey, 1:44/100yd actual swim pace. ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ19.2 mile bike (with 675 feet of climbing) - 56:34 - 20.4 mph.   • How you feel after finishing your last 20 miler of the training cycle (๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’ƒ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜ด๐ŸŒฎ) โžก how you LOOK after your 20 miler (delirious๐Ÿ˜‚โ˜ ) - That. Was. Tough. Just under 60 miles logged in the past 6 days, 31 in the past 2. My legs were TIRED from the very start! This run was definitely a mental test, especially because my phone died at mile 15 and it was just me, my brain, and the pavement ๐Ÿ˜จ But it's DONE and the weather was just perfect and I was able to test my fuel and attire strategy one last time. We're somehow only 3 weeks out from race day!!! Craziness....I'm ready for a nap, but first we're off to a fair! ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜…Prayers accepted. Happy Saturday, friends!

I had every intention of making it easy, but as the miles ticked away and we got lost in conversation, I started to notice that we were running most of my miles at or close to my GMP. The crazy part about it is that it felt comfortable. We even hit a 7:38 for mile 18! Todayโ€™s run gave me a huge boost of confidence that I can do hard things! #chasingboston #runarete #runlikeagirl #marathoner
