  • STILL LEARNING HOW TO RUN THIS BOD💁🏻‍♀️ . @Ryan.p.vail / @rundoyen had me doing a progression run today! . I definitely wasn’t feeling amazing/cramps this morning😑- but I always try to give each workout a fair shake - no matter how I’m feeling. So many of my *great* workouts, I have had multiple reasons why it shouldn’t have been a good one- but because I committed to giving it my best effort, I still have walked away with a good one. And at the end of the day- your body doesn’t know paces- it knows effort!🤗 . Another warm/humid sweatfest😅 today- but this summer training is making us stronger! During the tempo portion of the workout, I may have started a little quick - but felt so smooth and easy in the first mile🙄. By the time, I got to the 4th mile I was seeing 7 minute pace. I think I need to work on what’s going on in the middle of my tempos. It’s like I get tired and exhausted and let my body kinda do whatever it wants to do. After a quarter mile of letting it do what it wanted to (aka run slow🙄), I finally took the reigns back and worked to get back on pace. And once I got into the 5th mile, I did my best to stay in it and push. I mean the pace is there and I know I could have gone faster if I wouldn’t have let myself stay in that fatigue in the middle of the workout- and stayed more engaged to pushing. . So much of running is mental- and learning how to be the best captain to your ship. I think I’m still learning how to hold pace & push when I need to- and I’m excited to keep exploring how I can better manage my body/fitness. The sustained stuff is my weakness - I MUCH prefer the speed- and I think managing those middle miles will help me race better!☺️ . 1 mi warmup @ 8:22 4 miles @ 7:38 5 miles @ 6:38 5 miles @ 8:38 to cooldown = 15 mi long run done (I thought the :38’s were so funny!) . Guys! Around a year and a half ago- I was struggling to hold 7:30s for my 4-5 mile tempos. Things start clicking with consistency! STAY WITH IT!💃🏻 . Swipe for a stride- this is how my form should look all the time- like in the middle of a tempo when I feel like I’m dying. ☠️🤦🏻‍♀️ . #run #rundoyen #instarunners #womensrunningcommunity #runOOTD #rrsports

  • I love my Garmin Forerunner 10. So much that it died on me today because I hate taking it off. It’s so simple and there’s not a bunch of crazy, high tech stuff on there that you don’t need. And it’s affordable. Personally, I like to keep it simple. What’s your favorite type of GPS watch? Are you as attached to yours as I am to mine?

  • Wake up, smile, & make it happen!!! . . 7 Months Pregnant and still busting out a solid double digit run!! Yeaaaaaaa Baby!!!! I wanted to sleep in so bad to be honest but like we all tend to say, we feel so much better after a run! FACT: I definitely rode the struggle bus the first 3 miles and was close to calling it quits but thankfully my body snapped out of it and the rest of the miles flew by. As my brother would say, “SHE GONE”. . . Say what you want because some people have the nerve to be so RUDE about running pregnant or my “small bump”; well guess what it’s round and big like every normal pregnant woman. In fact, it’s only getting bigger and I love the action shots where it truly shows it’s actually size. I’m still feeling pretty good and enjoying the bump on the run. With a good pair of shoes I could just keep going! I’ve been enjoying the Brooks Ghosts, Glycerin, & Adrenaline GTS! . . What shoe did you run/workout in today......SHARE👇🏼

For me, it falls right in line with its bright predecessors, Pop and Snap. And it looks pretty lit in combo with Snap! So getchu some and wear Saturday on Saturday! PS. Hill repeats: yay.

I had to take an extra rest day this week (subbed out a #barre class for midweek miles) but I’m glad I listened to my body. My run today felt better than it has since I can remember. Then I had energy to chase around my crazy crew. #oklahoma #lakes #boats Photo cred: #lylalou

  • FOCUSED ON PERFORMANCE NOT AESTHETICS💁🏻‍♀️ . Hi guys!!! 👋🏽So something I think is a bit interesting- on posts of mine showing my progress as a runner over the last few years- I’ll have people post some interesting comments - most comments focusing on my weight and their opinion of my body & if they like it or not😬, haha -which is just funny to me considering that my weight has actually never been the subject of any of my posts. While I’ve leaned out and gained more muscle through my journey as a runner- it’s been the byproduct of my pursuit of getting faster. My measuring stick is my performance & how I’m feeling- and not a weight or aesthetics-based standard. I fuel for performance- and then I also treat myself.🍟 . Thankfully I’ve been in a good place with my body no matter what stage of life I’ve been in. But comments like “anorexia” or telling me I looked better before- when the whole point of my post is the fact that I am running faster is silly. I’m out here doing my best to make myself into an athlete so receiving those comments is unhelpful. I guess this is part of what it’s like to go through life as a woman - where our bodies are just subject to more criticism.🤦🏻‍♀️ . I have friends on this platform that receive similarly inappropriate comments and I know how cutting it can be to receive that type of negativity. So to all my girls out there doing their best to make themselves into a better athlete - keep at it. 😌Don’t worry about how the world is receiving that cutie bod of yours- focus on what matters- how you feel & how you perform. Everyone has opinions. But the only ones that matter are God’s and yours. And God thinks you’re perfect.❤️ . We have the choice everyday- to use our words to encourage others, to build them up, to bring life to them. Or we can be destructive with them. Choose to always spread life wherever you go.☺️ . Killer strength today @f45_training_sandiego_downtown. Is your girl strong yet?!💪🏽 . #run #rundoyen #instarunners #womensrunningcommunity #runOOTD #rrsports ____________________________________________________ Awesome pic! :D 👥 ⤵ Double tap & tag your friend Love it 😉💖 Would you like to wear RUNNING T

  • Not my fastest pace, but one of my more satisfying runs this year. First, my long runs are increasing, and my foot feels fantastic! Not an issue at all. Yay. Second, this run started out tough. While my legs felt great (I got cupping done last night), I was overall super tired. Due to evening commitments, It was my fifth day in a row of having to get up between 4 and 4:30 am to get my workouts done. The first half was definitely a struggle, but once my body woke up, it ended up a progressive run with my fastest miles at mile 11 and 12! Paces: 9:27, 9:03, 8:51, 9:01, 9:00, 8:58, 8:56, 8:44, 8:41, 8:33, 8:13, 8:17. Felt good to grind this one out. 🏃🏾‍♀️🌱 #run #vegan #nuunlife #beatyesterday #igrunners #runhappy

  • "We can survive having babies, and we can thrive!" - Julie Wiebe . It's about time I circle back around to another pelvic health post 😍 We didn't have much education on this incredibly important topic in school, so it was up to the student/therapist to seek out the education post graduation. I didn't appreciate and respect how complex and important it was until I had my two kids and wanted to continue an active lifestyle while facing my own challenges. Since then, I have been learning as much as possible, to help myself of course, but to also spread awareness to all the other women out there facing their own challenges that there is HOPE. There are professionals who can HELP you! If you are training for any sport, hoping to get stronger, faster, fitter, even chase after those kids...our pelvic health can be imperative to reaching those goals. Our pelvic floor is just one component of our central core responsible for stabilizing and generating force. If it isn't working in coordination with all the other players within this system, and in a properly responsive way for the movements and activities we are doing, we can start to see problems sneak up. And this is not just incontinence, but urgency, prolapse, painful sex, constipation, pelvic pain, hip and low back pain to name some. These can be treated not by avoiding the activities, or surgery, but with consistent, purposeful treatment programs created for YOU by an educated professional. Kegels have been the go-to, key exercises people associate with pelvic health and "strength," but they are not the whole answer. It's not that simple 😏 there are a lot of aspects to assess and consider. Do your homework. Find women's health PTs or PTs specializing in pelvic health. Most general health practitioners, ob/gyns have no rehab education. It's not their job 🤷🏻‍♀️ For me, I've been doing better and better. The past 6 months I've seen a huge improvement after I stopped nursing my daughter, went to a women's health PT, and worked on more functional exercises coordinating these systems. But I'm not out of the woods as todays run was not the best. And thats ok. I know what I need to work on for my body 🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🧘
